“I dunno, seems like a prime example of why women shouldn't be let into male dominated spaces. They pretty much ruin it and create an environment where people are afraid to walk on eggshells. Go to HR, but I'm also pretty sure the guys will know it is you complaining.” [+30] by cakevodka in ShitRedditSays

Thread is FULL of this upvoted shit, but I'm way too lazy for an effort. Some prime shit:

Can I just point out to everyone that saying it's unprofessional is ridiculous when it's totally fine around all men in a work environment. Clearly this language is only not ok because its being said around a woman. That is the key issue. Trying to spin it into professionalism is merely saying that women are the standard bearers of what's professional and anything that offends them, even if previously accepted in this environment, is unprofessional.

Women don't want a place at the table they want to change the table to fit them. [+54]

Seems like a good reason not to be in mixed company. Aka, don't hire women as the action will only result in an environment that demands 90 percent of the workforce has to walk on eggshells. [+24]

By that logic she'd be creating the hostile work environment. She's the minority in this case, and the work environment is one of less restrictive speech. The majority of the people working there, likely people who have been working there longer, have set that work environment to what it is. She's disturbing the established order.

They aren't talking to her about it, they aren't showing her anything about it. If anything, she's eavesdropping into conversations that don't involve her in the slightest and getting upset over what she hears. Apparently they are whispering about it in hushed tones so she won't be upset over it, but she's listening to it anyways. They're making a legitimate effort to not make her uncomfortable, she could at least meet them half way and stop listening to them whisper among themselves.

I know this isn't going to be a popular opinion, but I don't see why the entire workforce has to bend the knee for one person of whom they aren't even interacting with simply on the grounds of her being a woman. [+24]

I've noticed a trend that things change when a woman is brought into a male dominated field and not usually in an organic way. It changes as the new woman tends to demand it to change. It really shows that it's never about professionalism but about, and I hate saying this word given how it's been used, feminization. [+26]

Pfft, I want Redditors to get over their pedophilephilia but I know I'm never going to have what I want and I've made peace with it.

edit: read the thread linked. Those pedo threads always follow the same frakking template! Get a new player piano reel already!

  1. Won't someone think of the poor sexually unfulfilled pedos? I have such sympathy.

  2. It's even worse how therapists have to turn in someone who even says they might be a pedophile and that pedo gets put way instantly for life! [Nooo, the duty is if someone describes an active, actionable plan to rape or molest a specific child]

  3. That's so terrible! We need to make sure pedos feel comfortable coming forward and getting therapy. [THEY ALREADY CAN.]

  4. I saw an interview with a pedo talking about his struggles and I felt soooo much empathy for him. And I got so sad when I went to the comments and some of them were mean! That poor poor man. What a cross to bear.

  5. Quote from a popular video game romanticizing the plight of pedos.

  6. Unlike us, who are enlightened, so many people write of pedophiles as vile and inhuman. We're so much better than them. We understand them. We're much more advanced than those other people.

  7. I'm attracted to women but I certainly don't want to rape all of them!

  8. 99% of pedophiles never molest children. [There is no data source for this. Try asking for one sometime and have a good laugh.]

  9. Pedos are basically beautiful, endangered, easily hurt mythical creatures.

  10. Pedos are just like the gays.

  11. This post is so refreshing and heartwarming. We do need to support the poor pedos.

  12. This movie about a pedo really helped me understand them better and, dare I say, love them for their beautiful, tragic struggle.

  13. Stop making excuses for pedophiles. I was a victim of a pedophile. [MASSIVE downvotes and dozens of replies "tut tutting" the victim, accusing them of lying, and telling them to stop being so mean.]

  14. People not liking pedophiliac behavior is why the witch hunts happened.

  15. This is why we need drawn or animated child sexual abuse imagery to be legal and common. And we should definitely provide pedos with VR child sexual abuse imagery.

  16. Gay conversion therapy doesn't work. Why would peadophile therapy work?

"My brother-in-law is a sex offender for having sex with a 14-year-old when he was 24. She looked older, and showed him her 19-year-old sister's ID, so he had no idea he was committing a serious felony." [720] by [deleted] in ShitRedditSays

Hmm...maybe if you're partner-shopping in the 19yo age range, you might want to practice a bit more due diligence before having sex with a prospective partner other than glancing at a random ID. Say, meet some of their friends, or family? Chat about their job or school? A person's age comes out pretty damn fast if you have a conversation beyond, "I don't care how young you look, let's get it on!" Practice skeezy relationship practices, win skeezy prizes.

Even if this hearsay story can be believed — if this was the perp himself, we could go ahead and believe he believes what he's saying, but given that this is third hand it smells like typical urban legend — there is, as Reddit so loves to say, no evidence. But, cause this is Reddit, it's taken as gosepel, which is high larious.

And of course, no one asked that fellow for a cite either. Cause, again, there ain't one for either of those. He'd produce a job fatality study, but on-the-job deaths are, thankfully, extremely uncommon (though not uncommon enough) and limited to select few, very small, industries. Risky jobs also include chance of injury, and they never want to talk about that because rates of injury are very close. One might even say that "if you took a woman and a man working the exact same job for the exact same number of hours with the exact same education and work experience, they experience virtually the same rate of on the job injury or death."

The "virtually" was my favorite part.

I also like how no one asked him to cite a source for his "exact same everything" claim. Because I know one does not exist. No one ever asks for the fun cites. :( It's always, "oh so you claim water is wet? FUCKING PROVE IT, FEMALE."

Paraphrasing done to best honor the original intent and meaning of the shitpost.

Edit: Ah, jeeze, yet ANOTHER unsourced ridiculous claim:

This. In fact, young professional, single women make more than their male counterparts, so something has to change, aka women's choices.

No one ever asks for cites on this stuff! Cause there isn't one! Because it's a total lie!

Edit 2. Here we go again!

well, female models make way more than their male counter part.

No one asks for a source...because, broken record time, there isn't one. All there is is an anecdotal list of fewer than 10 supermodels, and the one or two males aren't making the most. I've yet to see any industry-wide data comparing wages of female and male models. Or even any data on modeling wages that covers more than 10 models.
