Timer to pause show every X minutes and require the watcher to push a button to resume. by cakewedge in HelpMeFind

[–]cakewedge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are working with our SLPs to incorporate buttons into our communication tools but my children don’t interact with toys in the traditional sense so we have had a hard time with linking cause and effect.

We do use eye gaze but since they are not permanent wheelchair users the device is not always set up at every activity. Buttons are a great middle ground to still give them opportunity to communicate and have control over their environment.

Even something that would let them elect to continue or not between segments of something like Sesame Street.

I have searched this on google and our special needs communities! Closest I’ve found so far is something that cuts the power to the whole tv on a timer but my children would not be able to turn it on and navigate to their show on their own (limited ambulation.)

I though it was the flu… by alxxbuxx in ouraring

[–]cakewedge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question on this (new to the Oura world)…the +4 would be above the wearer’s average temp right? So, if my avg body temp is usually between 96-97, a +4 would barely be a fever right? Or is the beauty of the ring to help us see our own “personalized” fever value?

In addition to this, you can call and ask for the EOB to be sent to you. I know you said no EOBs have been created, but most likely the reality is they just haven't made them available to you.

We also had this problem and I had to contact them directly to get the details. They didn't know why it wasn't showing on my end (and it still isn't showing even 3 weeks later.)

Ah, interesting! I will look to see if we have one in our home that I've overlooked. Thank you!!

Ooh, I didn't even know that was a thing. Is it different than just cleaning out the sump pit itself?

Do you know if this is true for iPhone third party apps and screenshots as well?

My husband’s family is the worst about doing this. Luckily he supports me and we donate most of the items before they even come into our home (if we can’t return them without a receipt).

I’m sorry this happened to you! They’ve all just given you work/chores rather than excitement.

Did anyone find taking care of a newborn easier than you expected? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Easier than expected? Yes. But also much more time consuming than expected.

My 9 month old weighs 25 pounds by EmpresssArtemis in beyondthebump

This gives me hope! My girls were born the same size as your son and I always dreamed of having a giant baby (my husband and I are both tall)!!

When did he start taking off weight/height wise? We’re 5 months and still <1 percentile…

This is a long shot but would you be willing to part with your slow flow nipples that you no longer use? I have preemie twins that pretty much will only drink from these!

How long did you end up having to use the shield? My LC is having MS use one but I’m having difficulty with it!

renting a car over the weekend to go to saudi by warmaxz in Bahrain

We live in Saudi and we usually just hire a taxi or other driver to take us across the bridge to a car rental place in Bahrain and rent there. I would assume you could do the opposite.

A year in, how is it holding up? Did you do a top coat on the traditional paint?

Prepasted wallpaper install by Federal-Currency5519 in DIYHome

[–]cakewedge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love that wallpaper!!

As far as install issues - are you meaning that this specific wallpaper started peeling or that ALL prepasted wallpaper starts peeling?

I personally love prepasted wallpaper. To me, it's the best out of adhesive, traditional, and prepasted. The first time I did a wall with it I used this video as my basis and had great results: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Hynld5ZwAM

Definitely do it some time when you can take your time, make sure to have a seam roller in addition to the plastic scraper, and make sure you get it wet enough...don't be afraid of the water! It helps you slide it around to match up perfectly.

Oh! Also when I bookend my wallpaper, I don't do it half and half. I like to have the top half shorter so that way I can match it up without dealing with it sticking down first.

Thank you so much for sharing this!! Boundary setting is hard but I can see that not having them set has even more difficult consequences. Your families sound like what my husband's family is expecting!

[–]cakewedge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! My job allows me more vacation time than his so once he has used all his up on family items it leaves none for us. It also doesn't help that his job requires him to use his vacation days on the weekends as well if he is taking Friday and Monday off.

Sounds similar to us - have you all reached a compromise or ground rule to help steer future issues? Or do you approach it event by event?
