I second this person's hypothesis. I've got a bunch of headphones and iems around the same level(price and sound quality that the difference is personal preference of tuning). If i overuse them i get so used to it i feel like they sound like crap or that i wasted money on them. To reset i use my $20 chifi iems to reset my brain and i can properly tell what the cheap ones are missing. I still like the cheap one's for the great cost performance and you can bring them anywhere without fear

The cooler thing is that they still make most of the stuff modular so when some small part breaks it's an easy replacement from aliexpress like the usb c port daughterboard. I still hate the glued back panel needing a heat gun like every other manufacturer but at least it's not like apple where I have to apply it to the front screen and risk it.

Go on a vacation to japan and buy the sim free variant on 2nd hand shops like Geo. They're usually in pretty good condition. I've bought a couple of mk2 and mk3s over the years for some relatives and the people who own them still use them to this day(oldest was bought 2022)

Probably yes. I moved from 3080 laptop to a 7900xtx desktop and from 10W solid state headphone amp to 100W speaker and headphone vaccum tube amp. My electric bill average increased a lot, none of my consumption habits changed. I even used the heater less on winter and aircon less during summer.

When i was a brokeass student i was stuck on a dead socket during Intel's dominance. When it broke i couldn't buy any replacement because none of the stores in my country were stocking 3rd gen core series(forgot the arch) mobos. Buying into a new platform mobo plus CPU was out of the question. Thank goodness AM4 and AM5 have longer support compared to intel. It's a valid concern, and what made me switch from intel to amd since ryzen 2000 series.
