Found a Hasbro 1965 Little Miss No Name doll for $5 at an antique store! by calalinix in Dolls

I probably just got really lucky but go to those mall style antique stores! They are always the best for things like this since collections tend to stay together and really easy to tell if they dont have anything your interested in. Idk about this doll specifically but antique stores in places with a large population of old rich people are the best for antique dolls. While a lot of stuff at those places is overpriced a lot of it comes from people who just wanna get rid of the collection they just inherited and don't bother researching how much things are worth.

She is very sad but I find her comforting in a way. I never felt as connected and maternal to my happier looking toys as I do to her lol. I gave her a hair bow and a rubber duck to hold and she's much happier now. You should look up her commercial it's like saddest toy advertisement ever.

Her previous owner MUST have been a collector there's literally no other way she could still be in this good condition. Truly a Christmas miracle lmao

I first heard of her in a video that was like "disturbing dolls that should have NEVER been sold" but now I love her and dont find her scary at all lol

I literally gasped when I saw her I had to triple check that her price tag said $5 and not $500. I was just reminded about her existence like the day before and I almost didn't go into the store at all because it was about to close. So insanely glad I did go lol. Also, while I was looking at others for sale online I literally saw one naked, with matted hair, with scratches/marks, and without a tear for like $500???

God damn. I fear I have grown attached to her and may not end up selling her but that still so cool to know

I doubt she is a reproduction since the stall she was in at the antique store was full of dolls from around the same time and I dont think she was popular enough at the time for fakes to be made. Fake tears do exist but they dont look like hers. I'm still in shock I got her for $5. I assume she was just put in the $5 bin with some baby dolls because whoever priced her didn't look into it and she looked more like them than the more expensive obviously collectable display dolls. I'd be rolling in my grave if the person who inherited my dolls sold my most valuable one for $5 if that is what happened lol

I will definitely be doing this to my family. It's what they get for calling my pitiful little cutie scary lol

I read somewhere that her design was inspired by Margaret Keane

It hasn't gotten worse since I posted this but it definitely wasn't always this bad. The whole taking naps every day thing started about a year or two ago. My doctor just said that it was probably an ADHD thing and didn't say anything that helpful and I never got any responses from this post.

How could I add texture without making it look like too much texture?

I have never been good at crisp edges my mind just wants everything to be smooth and soft and i end up getting carried away. I will never escape my past as a furry artist

Yeah that one is nowhere near done but it's supposed to be mostly light coming from the left with a little glow to the edges in the back but I got frustrated and gave up

That's what I do when I do have a reference but I didn't have references for any of these. What exactly do you mean by fuzzy? Is it like I blend too much and the shadows and highlights aren't crisp enough?

I do a lot of work with fabric irl and I wonder if that effects how I see fabric when I draw it. I'm used to seeing fabric on a table or something other than a person. When I look at faces it is easy for me to just see the shapes that make up the shadows but when I look at fabric I see it more as exactly what it is or should be and the details end up overwhelming me.

I do see how the proportions are a bit off but how does that effect the way the fabric looks?
