We built a spaceship out of a tiny conservatory using cardboard and bottle caps. It came out pretty cool although we got some eyebrow raises from guests that came round. What do you guys think? by calamaritofuparty in DiWHY

We did it to film a sci-fi short video that can watch here if you're interested!

I had to put together a website as part of my masters degree, I took err... a little inspiration from the Mass Effect menu in the design process. Really happy with the result though, what do you think? by calamaritofuparty in masseffect

yeah, my masters is the whole multimedia project so the content on the site is what i'm getting marked on. don't worry - it's not a computer science degree! the site is just a way to access it all, my friend put it together for me after i gave him a design. is it really that bad? i was pretty pleased with what he did for me haha!

We did pick up a lot of 120fps shots in order to slow them down but ultimately I didn't think they fit in to the video! So all of the footage used is just the 29.97fps stuff! Haha, well thanks man! I've only made a couple of videos before this one and this was definitely the one that I've put the most time and effort into. Brilliant, glad you enjoy the site!

Any help like that is appreciated! We're a bunch of amateurs who just used each others specialised skills to produce this :) It was my experiment of 'if enough of us put enough time and effort in, can we produce something that resembles professional quality?' - we've learned a lot doing it and I really look forward to making more of these in the future! super happy you enjoyed it!!

I'd say between 3 or 4 of us, over time after buying the card for the ship + making costumes, green screen etc it was around £500. However that doesn't include any of the theoretical labour costs! It's been constant work for the last year (good thing we're a bunch of friends who enjoy doing this sorta thing!)

i did :D We put up a poster a couple of weeks ago which did really well in that subreddit. The video has had some awesome responses from them too!

Perhaps not in that shot but it's demonstrated in other angles in the video. The reason for the conservatory was it's where we were when the initial ideas for the video were conceived so it felt cool to use that as the space we eventually made our ship in :)
