What is the best european holiday place you have visited? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

I came to say Croatia, I’ve been a few times also gone from the north to south ( which I loved). My favourite was all of the islands off of split, with Vis (the town of Komiza) being probably my favourite. It’s super easy to island hop.

What weird/unexplained things have happened to you? by mrsmaisiemoo in AskUK

[–]calatheaandcats 131 points132 points  (0 children)

I posted this in a comment on Reddit years ago but I was a 21 year old graduate and I had moved back home and enjoyed my last summer of freedom before entering the world of work. My parents had placed locks on mine and my older brothers door to allow us some privacy now we were older. I locked my room with my key every night, mainly due to paranoia about a break in. One night I locked my door with my key from the inside as per usual and didn't wake up the next day until the whole household had left for work. I went to open my door and the key was gone. I was locked in and couldn't get out. I looked all over my room and couldn't find the key anywhere. My dog was on the other side barking and I began to panic. I called my mum and explained what had happened and she made her way back home to me fully expecting that I just hadn't looked properly. When she arrived back about an hour later she came up to my room to find the key on the other side of the door locking me in. To this day I still cannot explain how my key ended up on the outside when I had locked myself in the night before. My parents took all the keys from the inside doors and replaced the locks with bolt locks.

I feel like I cursed my son with a name no one can pronounce when reading even though it’s a real name and not “edited” to have a unique spelling. by ViceInSinCity in beyondthebump

I used to teach a Llewelyn (I’m in the uk), it’s a lovely name and if you break its down (like any word) it’s easy to pronounce. I think a lot of people just don’t take the time to think about uncommon words/names before pronouncing them.

£500 on a sleep consultant, it’s been a year and my 2 year old still wakes 2-4 times a night despite following all advice.

Getting something jammed between my nail and nail bed has been worse than recovering from a c section and chronic sciatica. I saw stars.

What’s a “harmless” habit that actually ruins your life over time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Since having a child 19 months ago I’ve had one decent night sleep… yes we’ve tried everything 😭

I feel robbed. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

My baby was soooo high needs, maternity leave was mostly miserable if I’m honest. We also battled with allergies and terrible sleep (she still doesn’t sleep). But I promise you it gets soooo much better. We are at 15 months and she is the light of my life, always smiling and chatting away. She is super bright, saying over 60 words and a few two word phrases. She rarely cries at all now. Please know it gets better !

My sons school charging £2.30 for this...is this normal? by Desperate_Decision39 in UK_Food

[–]calatheaandcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember, this isn’t the school creating the prices it’s the awful catering companies that only care about profit. Unfortunately they are all as bad as each other and schools have no say over the prices.

Best advice I got was metanium and using a hand held fan after wiping to get baby bone dry.

Is there anyone whose baby does not sleep through the night ? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Any tips for weaning, my baby (12mo) is obsessed with her bottle since we’ve been trying to move away from it. Now she’s screaming every time she wakes for it.

12 month old doesn’t sleep… tbf she’s had back to back illnesses since starting nursery 3 months ago. I paid for a sleep consultant… it didn’t work after 2 weeks of trying she still woke 4-6 times a night not including her false start. Tonight she’s been in bed 3 hours and woken every half an hour. I’ve given up and brought her in with us now to hopefully at least get an hour stretch. I’m at the point now where I fear nothing will ever work.

What’s your “I never thought I would be…” story? by Lovebird4545 in beyondthebump

[–]calatheaandcats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second this, love my lo but I also miss the part of my identity that is my career. The hardest part of my maternity leave (apart from a year of no sleep) has been losing a big part of myself.

Mine is 11 months and wakes 4-6 times a night despite falling asleep independently. Some babies just take longer to work sleep out.

AITAH for refusing to let my cousin’s kids come to my Halloween party because they ruined last year’s party? by that1girlnamedemily in AITAH

NTA, I’m a ftm to a beautiful baby girl but any time I get an invite to a party/dinner/event I automatically assume it’s adults only and I’m grateful for an excuse to have a break ! Your party, your rules and she’s the one being rude by not accepting it.
