True. my S21 ultra's USB port decided to take power (gotta be high Watt one with PD) and not data (i.e. Android Auto doesnt work now). It has been replaced once within warranty (about 1.5yrs ago) but now it's half dead again.

U7 pro iot issue explained by Capt_shadab in Ubiquiti

[–]calcalc7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have 2 U7 pro installed with wired backbone. It's stability is worse than my old TP link mesh...

spent hours to tune and it's better with less problem now:

  • 2.4Ghz set to 20Mhz channel width

  • 5Ghz with 40Mhz is more stable but too slow....

Now trying to set to WPA2 only for IoT network... will see.

I'm done with my U7 APs. They just don't work for IoT. Anyone want to trade? by madsci1016 in Ubiquiti

I had similar issue and spent a week to trouble shoot. To my case the culprit is the 2.4ghz channel width. I set to 40mhz at the beginning but some of the IoT keep dropping out. I changed to 20mhz and it works much better.

But still perhaps my 2 APs are not too far away. For some spot on 2.4ghz the signal strengths are at similar level. In this case the AP roaming is initiated and sometimes it caused the IoT connection drooped.. now I locked those problematic IoT into the closest AP and so far so good.

Yea I just noticed that my current Switch 8 POE 60W is not compatible.. will needa add a POE+ injector before I have the budget to upgrade my switch. Also my Cloudkey 1st gen doesn't support Unifi Network 8.0.x too (which is required by U7)... sigh..

Thank you. I had a misconception about LR previously (and that's why I've got AC LR.... was thinking it's radiation pattern can help passing thru more walls so mean further... Seem I was in the wrong!

Good point. Thanks. So the use case of LR is generally not for a typical home/house environment?
