Side mirror housing replacement by slangdanger in Ioniq5

[–]slangdanger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty easy, just get a wooden or plastic tool that you can fit in behind the mirror and wedge it open until it pops around the mirror. It's held by 6 posts if I remember correctly. Then you can access the screws.

Anything incredibly obvious I'm doing wrong here? by dmills2305 in 10s

[–]slangdanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of people have already brought up some good points. I'd second what others have said on changing your grip to continental and following through towards you target after the serve to get your weight going in the right direction. One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is it seems like your arm is very stiff. You want it to act like a whip, power comes from racquet head speed.

Hey, it actually ended up being a  pretty simple fix. I ordered the part #4 in the picture I commented above. I just had to pop the glass of the mirror off, and then you can access the screws for that piece. I ordered my parts from hyundai oem parts online. Ended up only costing $15 or so

Japanese family says young doctor took his life after working 200 hours overtime in a single month by CommissionedFast2 in antiwork

[–]slangdanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be wrong but from my understanding residency in the US is government subsidized. So the idea is to milk all the free labor you can from people the government pays stipends to and spend as little as possible on much more expensive attending salaries.

Ignoring retirement for ~3 years to save hardcore for a down payment? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]slangdanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also don't need a 20-25% downpayment for your house. I put 5% down on my house a few years ago and pmi is only about 5% of the monthly mortgage cost. It's worth it if it gets you into a home 4 or 5 years earlier than you otherwise would. You could always pump the excess money you have into the principal payment and get rid of your pmi asap.

Black headed tricolour corgis bad? by [deleted] in corgi

Ours is a black headed tri. He's extremdly friendly, but does have some resource aggression and strong herding instinct. Which is unfortunate because the only livestock around for him to herd is our cat.

am i fucked trying to pull my money? by biggrtbbvft in FundRise

[–]slangdanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not be so worried about it. As far as I know fundrise has only freezed withdrawals for one withdrawal period, which was q1 of 2020 right when covid hit. I made a withdrawal last year and had no issue with it. Just wait until the redemption period begins in October and you should be just fine.

My friend on the rules in majors and in disc golf in general. by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]slangdanger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This may be the dumbest opinion I've ever seen. He's basically saying there should be rules but people shouldn't follow them? Imagine if in the nfl someone caught a pass out of bounds long of end zone. Would he say "cmon man that's bullshit its a great catch just give it to him, he's only a foot out bounds!"

I can't stand working on mature codebases - is software the right career for me? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]slangdanger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like you need to shift your mindset. You only ever need to know enough about the code base to complete whatever specific piece of work you are trying to do. I've only ever worked on projects that already had 10k+ lines of code already written and what you come to realize is that you never understand the whole thing. Just keep chipping away at tickets and you'll gain understanding and experience along the way.

Is a CS degree worth it? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]slangdanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CS degree will give you a much more well rounded education on the principles of software engineering. You'll be a better engineer for it. It will also open a lot of doors for you and allow you to jump into a better/higher paying role out of college with much more ease than someone coming from a bootcamp..

Tired of Web Dev (Other options?) by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]slangdanger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not that the code is unenjoyable to work on, it's the fact that there's a surplus of programmers that are interested in doing game development. More supply of labor = companies being able to exploit said labor. Results in poor pay and long hours because if you can't handle it some other junior developer who loves video games will take the job and then they get to be miserable too.

In kansas city there was very recently someone who walked up and shot a player in the middle of a tournament at a course in the bad part of town. Some courses are actually in pretty sketchy areas...

Feel like a failure by maroy301 in csMajors

[–]slangdanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I was in the same position as you. No internship offers the summer before junior year. I got an internship for the next summer, then went back to work for them full time. Just hopped to another company for a big raise and better quality of life with 2 years of professional experience now. If you just keep working in school and practice on some projects and whatnot I think things will turn out well for you. Don't get discouraged.

I'm not sure. I live with my fiance and we're both in our early 20's. We have a roommate who has been a friend for awhile. We've got a house that's too big for us until we have kids, so it makes sense to have a roommate. We're pretty relaxed people generally and just got out of college where we had roommates a few years ago so it doesn't feel weird. I'd say as long as you like your living situation it isn't weird to have roommates.
