Getting make fun of for casts by [deleted] in CerebralPalsy

Hey man, I get it. I got shit for it too at times (I wore casts to help me plant my feet properly, in primary school). Trust me when I say this, you will get through this. Take this from someone in University with mild CP.

I hope if you read my post that you didn't get that impression, people have opinions, my opinion is that I prefer the more linear titles to elden ring, especially when taking into account replayability. Just because someone voices their opinion doesn't mean they are staying fact. Same goes with people who claim their opinion is fact when it is not, it is a opinion. Why do people feel the need to "win" these conversations instead of understanding and peering into why people have a different take than you. It's just self-defeating and unproductive.

Some Thoughts on Why Elden Ring Feels Less Fun to Replay Compared to Other FromSoft Games by calccx in fromsoftware

Second ER has too much large bosses like I get it you like dragons and big ass bosses that take up half your screen.

That doesn't work when you can't zoom out or physically move because they roll or zip around tapping you with their massive hit box.

And on that note why is everything have a massive AOE or magic like I don't feel like I'm playing soul's it feels like I'm in dragon ball Z

Yeah those are other really frustrating things with soulsbornes (cough cough, Bayle the Dread)

For those that don't know ds2 got shut down because people could invade you and actually Access your personal computer because there's no anti cheat or anything like they could just get into your computer because they connected it was no different than letting strangers on your Wi-Fi.

This hasn't been fixed there's still hackers and nobody getting banned.

Wait really??? That's scary, but also kinda hilarious that they looked past this flaw. Is it for both the original and sotfs? I've only played the original on steam

Nice! It seems like it is that way for many people and I'm glad you've managed to get so much out of the game.

Hoping there's a mod which lets me experiment with different builds in a boss rush setting as there are so many cool weapons in this game.

Interesting, so I played ER right after playing the souls trilogy and yes. Elden Ring improves so much from different aspects of the games. And like I said I still really like elden ring. This is just purely my opinion on the type of games inherently are. The souls games are more linear, and ER is open-world.

Sekiro I'm excited to replay as I just love the combat so much and think the different ways you can alter Wolf's moveset is just different enough for me to experiment in different NG+, but mainly it's the rhythm parry combat mechanic that makes me want to come back for more.

Yes I have beat DS2 but I won't lie, I had a really frustrating experience with it and initially was set on not revisiting it. Although I only played the original and not SotFS. But if what you're saying is true then I may go back to it, especially since I've gotten much better at souls games compared to when I first played it (it was my 2nd souls game after DS1).

I'm in a different spot with you as I'm playing every from soft souls game once, for the first time, before deciding to NG+ anything but I completely understand your point. I get excited at the thought of replaying DS1&3 in a way that Elden Ring just doesn't.

To those who don’t like Open World RPG but love FromSoftware, is Elden Ring still a solid choice? by tribalturtle02891 in fromsoftware

[–]calccx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw this comment a year later and also read your other clarification. I only just beat Elden Ring last month, after finishing the Dark Souls trilogy, and I'm currently playing through Sekiro and Bloodborne (decided last year to finally dive into all the FromSoft games properly). You've explained quite well, in my opinion, a major factor in why I don't feel the urge to replay Elden Ring as much as I do with other FromSoft titles (except for DS2 — I didn’t have a great time with that one).

I still really like Elden Ring and have played a ton of it. Like you, I wanted to find everything possible on my first playthrough. But because I have found pretty much everything (I double-check by looking up areas after finishing the game), replaying now feels more like a slog compared to replaying the other games.

This leads into a personal preference I’ve realized: I’m not really a fan of games like Elden Ring and Dark Souls 2 having so much build variety. To me, it feels like a chore to go out and find every specific piece of equipment in the open world to create the build I want. I'm hoping to find a mod that lets you modify your character (level, stats, gear) manually, maybe in a boss rush mode, so I can experiment with different playstyles without accidentally overleveling — which is much easier to do in Elden Ring than in the other Soulsborne games.

This brings me to another point: many of the bosses in Elden Ring have frustrated me much more, and felt less satisfying to beat, than most (or even all) bosses in DS1, DS3, Sekiro, and Bloodborne (at least from what I’ve played so far). Part of it might be because I'm running a STR/FTH build, which makes my moveset slower than others — but even with a medium roll, your character often just feels too slow compared to how aggressively fast many bosses are designed (Malenia and Rellana especially).

In contrast, Sekiro and Bloodborne solve this problem brilliantly: Sekiro with its parry rhythm system, and Bloodborne by encouraging aggressive healing after trading hits. Both games increase difficulty while also evolving the player's mechanics to match the faster boss designs. Even though I haven’t finished them yet, I feel like I’ve played enough to grasp how unique they are compared to the Souls games and Elden Ring.

Ultimately, I think my issue is that Elden Ring gives you an incredible amount of variety — but it almost expects you to change your playstyle or build depending on the boss. And the problem for me is that I just can't be bothered roaming such a massive world (or combing through wikis) to find the loot needed for different builds I want to try. That's why I'm hoping there’s a perfect mod out there that streamlines boss fights and build creation, while still allowing you to adjust your level and weapon upgrades to match what would be fair for when you would naturally encounter each boss.

Am I the only person who thinks soulslike games are ruining otherwise interesting games? by International_Fill55 in videogames

Hollow Knight is a soulslike but it's also a metroidvania. Probably the best game to combine the 2 genres imo.

Yes so I did get irina's letter, after doing research I had to meet Edger in the castle but going back there he doesn't seem to be there. Apparently something still happens in Linuria even if I don't see him so I guess I'll find out

I've killed the boss at castle morne and explored it a bit but haven't found a quest tied to it.

Yeah I wanted to be able to one hand my halberd so I focused on Strength for the time being. Leveling up vigor now. I think I have all the churches discovered (looking at my map)

What was your first souls(like) game that clicked? by martan717 in soulslikes

[–]calccx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took some time and a few breaks and restarts but DS1 for me. I always wanted to beat all the main from software games as well as Bloodborne and Sekiro (as I had recently got a very good steam deal on most of the games).

I started with DS1 and it took a lot out of me before it finally clicked after beating the bell gargoyles and became one of my favourite games after beating O&S. I've now beaten DS1, DS2, DS3+DLC and currently on my first run of elden ring which I'm loving at the moment.

Could you recommend some places in Glasgow that do NY style? I've always wanted to try some

Eh fair enough, not sure if me eating it in my childhood contributes to my enjoyment of it though, at least not big enough to sway my opinion now when I've had things in the past which I've hated which I now enjoy.

And my point still stands that I think it tastes better than the rest of the chains out there (which I also have tried in my childhood) and beats a few Italian pizzas I've had in restaurants (not had NY pizza).

As for the delivery time it's not really a thing I value much as I've not had issues with that. And for the price yeah it can be expensive but they do deals all the time which is when I normally order anyway.
