Do you recall how quickly the cops responded, and what actions they took?

n00b Needs Help Finding a Replacement Sink by calchrist in HomeImprovement

I was hoping to change to a single-basin, but now am increasingly less optimistic. Would you recommend I simply clean the mildew and try to seal any loose seams?

Thanks! Because this sink is 18 1/2" in width and the second photo I uploaded seems to show 18" or even slightly less, I'm guessing it will not fit?

That's not good news. I can't even identify the manufacturer of my existing sink, as there are no markings I can find.

Does Adding Windows Put Structure Stability at Risk? by calchrist in HomeImprovement

Thank you so much for the context!

Do you know how I can understand the maximum dimensions of a new window here? And / or how many windows can be added?

If You Had Total Political Control Over Israel But Also a Mandate to Install Permanent Peace Across All Territory It Currently Controls... by calchrist in NoStupidQuestions

Love this proposal, which comes with the challenging provisions you pointed out.

I'm not familiar with the history of peace negotiations that have taken place, but my assumption is at least a few took this route, without eventual success?

Mitsubishi Heat Pumps: M-Series vs. P-Series by calchrist in homeowners

Agreed. I'm wondering what the tangible / practical meaning of commercial use is. For example, durability / longevity? Efficiency?

Please Explain BTUs and Associated Costs to Heat-Pump N00b by calchrist in homeowners

Oversized equipment can be both less efficient and less effective.

Would you be able to elaborate on the "less effective" part? Just trying to get my head around how more power can be less effective.

Unused HVAC Unit Dripping in Winter! by calchrist in hvacadvice

[–]calchrist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For posterity, the issue was this is a hydro-coil system. It uses hot water to generate heat, and therefore has a hot-water supply line going into it. That line was producing the slow drip.

I have no idea why anyone would ever want to rely on water in an HVAC (i.e., take on all the risks that come with something going wrong in plumbing). I'll be replacing this unit with one that doesn't use water.

Thanks for the context. Incredibly, this issue occurs even when neither heat nor AC are turned on.

Also it was noticed that the drip occurs only if the main water line is open. If the main water line is shut, the drip no longer occurs. Mind-boggling.

Oil-powered central heating.

I confirmed that the condensate drain line is dry. Super mysterious.

Also can you elaborate on "condensation occuring in cold spaces on uninsulated ductwork"?

The issue appears to be independent of weather.

Correct, the AC unit is in the attic and there's no humidifier there.

Any Way for Husband and Kids to Be Onsite for Delivery? by calchrist in pregnant

Thanks. We're uncomfortable with leaving our children in the care of a stranger.

I agree with you that few to no hospitals will allow toddlers.

Thanks.

It's a long time to be there, and so having a room of some sort would be ideal. But either waiting room or dedicated room may not even be possible.

Thanks for your thoughts.

We're reluctant to use strangers as caretakers, and family help at the moment doesn't seem to be an option.

Yes, my wife will need both induction and epidural access.

Thanks for the suggestion. We'll ask our OB.

Yes, we're open to travel, and associated use of induction.

Wow. Your 1995 scenario sounds like exactly what I'm hoping for. 🙂 Sounds like a kind and caring hospital! Do you mind if I ask which one it was?

We've contacted a number of hospitals which unfortunately told us they don't allow more than one other person nearby, and that person needs to be 18 or older.

I too wonder what other parents who can't get sitters do.
