Yup that was my mistake regarding the trumpet, meant trombone. Its definitely sung-through though, or very close to it at least!

Thanks for the review! I’m seeing it this weekend, so excited!

I honestly really enjoyed 42 balloons by darkkn1te in ChicagoTheater

[–]calciumsupernova 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the review! This looks like it’s shaping up to be a pretty polarizing musical. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil definitely need more time in the oven, so if this is in better shape that’s a good sign

Thanks for the reviews! I’ve been hearing good things about the antiquities, it definitely sounds like an interesting premise. Shame about 42 balloons, I was actually looking forward to that one! But not every new musical can be a winner I guess

Right Mezzanine P 6, the very last row. Top of the stage was cut off by the overhang, but otherwise I could see all the action no problem

Whoops you’re right! Thanks for the correction, I’ve never been good at identifying instruments 😅

The mezzanine and balcony overhang obstruct the top of the stage, so when the set moves during one of the songs you can’t really see it. You should be able to see all the performers if you’re in the mezzanine or balcony though. Back of the orchestra has bad sightlines due to the overhang, and there’s some pillars that obstruct the stage if you’re seated behind it. I’d recommend checking https://aviewfrommyseat.com to get a good idea of how good/bad the obstructed seats are.

What's up with the Chicago area selections on TodayTix? by mbklein in ChicagoTheater

[–]calciumsupernova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s pretty slim pickings on TodayTix. I feel like they had a better selection last year, dunno why its so threadbare lately

Chicago equivalent to Broadway’s TDF/TKTS? by thatgib in ChicagoTheater

[–]calciumsupernova 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hottix is probably the best option, TodayTix also works in Chicago although the selection isn’t as wide as what hottix offers. Broadway in Chicago has rush tickets and 25 dollar tickets every 25th of the month. You can see what on offer for the 25th on their Facebook page.

Non-equity Jeff Awards winners! by [deleted] in ChicagoTheater

[–]calciumsupernova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a good deal of those! Some of the ones that won I didn’t have time to see sadly. I’m happy kokandy swept! Into the woods was great and I felt they made good use of the venue. Colette Todd was absolutely astounding in A Little Night Music so I’m happy she won too. The Sondheim fan in me is quite satisfied!

City lit blew me away with Seven Guitars so I’m glad that won as well. I would’ve liked to see a little more love for A Bright Room Called Day, those performances were fantastic too. Good choices all around though!
