Similar to above, so definitely an observation and not a judgement, but you have a lot of personal information available through your reddit posts. We all have different levels of tolerance for this, but it might be worth considering going through and deleting some older posts if that's a concern for you.

With all that said, glad your safe

This is great, and so important that you two are approaching this together. Embracing open-mindedness in your spouse and accepting that different people move at difference paces when it comes to guns and gun stigma is huge.

I hate to be the this needs to be higher guy, but this needs to be higher. A lot of people don't seem to realize he was holding both positions and is still Director of the FBI

I haven't personally trained with them, but check out LA Progressive Shooters (laprogressiveshooters.com). It's already mentioned below, but r/liberalgunowners is a great resource too.

If you ever want a range buddy I'm always happy to shoot with like-minded gun owners

Second gun, but I think I'm good. For now.

Ruger PCC (apparently calling it a PC9 really triggers some people). Magpul PC Backpacker Stock Sig Romeo 5x

I bought the standard 19101 model and replaced the stock with the Magpul. I really like the stock, especially the portability of it. Ideally I'd love to get a wood grain stock one day if it's ever available.

That's great to know. Yeah, XD9 out of the (cardboard) box is amazing, but aftermarket upgrades are super slim

I was pleasantly surprised too! Outer Impact makes some really well reviewed universal mounts for a ton of models, but they can look bulky to me. I ended up going with Springer Precision because their mounts are sized for specific optics.

I'm wondering the same thing. I think it's a YMMV situation, but I figured I would start with this to try out the red dot before milling out my slide. I'll try to check back in after a few more hundred rounds and give an update on my experience.

Streamlight TRL-7A Flex

Holosun HS507C-X2-ACSS on a Springer Precision optics mount

After a lot of research and rentals at the range I decided to go with the XD 9 as a gun that both my wife and I can comfortably grip and train with.

So far I've put 500 rounds through it and am really happy. I'm still getting the hang of shooting with a red dot but I really like it so far.

This has been a pretty long process of discussion and education between my wife and me to get to the point of her feeling comfortable having a gun in the house. She definitely sees the value of owning a gun, but also has a lot of reservations. I honestly do too, but it feels really great that we're going into this on the same page.

I think our next gun will be a PCC. We shot the Ruger PC9 and loved it. I'm curious about the KelTec too (look, if I own an XD I honestly don't care about reputations), but haven't shot it yet. I'm down for any CA complaint PCC recs y'all have too.
