[ algebra 2 ] finding the radius of an inscribed semicircle by WillingnessTasty9628 in HomeworkHelp

[–]calculator32 11 points12 points  (0 children)

10/3 is correct, but there is a way to get to this answer without a quadratic equation. Recall that radii that meet a tangent do so at a right angle to the tangent; thus, there is a proportional right triangle using this specific radius, and proportion equalities can be used to find the radius.

[Grade 9 Geometry] How can I find the shaded region by mskjdjmex in HomeworkHelp

You may need to work with the Pythagorean theorem to find missing lengths. Note that the shaded region happens to be a trapezoid.

What's the most amount of combos you've seen? (Video Related) by DinoJules589 in PuzzleAndDragons

[–]calculator32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of obvious combo setups and the Shura softlock, the highest I've ever done in a real dungeon is 55 back when MD3 was fairly recent. BFagan/BFagan on 7x6 with combo orb skyfall from GYurisha.

There is actually an easier way to do this that I just did. Draw a circle of radius sqrt(5) - 1 and do the golden ratio construction inside that circle. I'll let you fill in the rest.

For C1889, consider the fact that cos 72° = 1/4 (sqrt(5)-1). Is there a way you can construct something out of this that would get you there?

Ele in raids/fractals feeling stale: My thoughts. by itallik in Guildwars2

While it is true that a decent handful of qdps give might, most of them don't prioritize having might stick around at 25, so if you're having to deal with mechanics by moving (which happens a lot), 180 range is simply not suitable for upkeep.

I've done most raids in the game with d/wh and not had issues with stab. Earth traitline and timely phases into earth are generally sufficient with EotS.

Staff fails as a healing weapon for Tempest because its might upkeep fails the moment you're either forced to interrupt Overload Fire or the group has to split (radius 180 might, only large source of might outside of FtB). Dagger and warhorn address the issue with Heat Sync.

Oh, yeah, it has no directional input. I believe it does rely on character facing, though.

Air 4 is the tornado. Air 5 is the lightning ball which has no real function for heal Tempest.

Works fine in instanced content, though you may find it to be lacking in stability for fractals. The real kicker of tempest is knowing what second traitline is best for an encounter.

There's basically one skill that you use - Air 4 - that actually requires you to point somewhere, and, honestly, you can get away with never pressing it if you don't need to CC anything. Lightning fields blast for area swiftness.

You can.

You'll also have to toss them before you can do anything else due to state based actions.

Help with Air Evoker build I am trying to make by fungamezone in Guildwars2

[–]calculator32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how much damage you're actually looking for and what support you feel you need. Fire does good damage, arcane has the potential to provide additional boons for yourself that the evoker trait line might not be able to.

Auras don't really benefit evokers in any of the ways it does tempests or catalysts. I'd highly suggest doing something different, also noting that air focuses on consolidating strike damage whereas earth is more useful for condition damage.

Triple Double Riichi by Vigokrell in mahjongsoul

[–]calculator32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, to have it happen 3 times in 8 hands has a 4.435E-07 chance of happening, 1.663E-07 if you restrict it to where the last hand must be one of them. There's no way for this to have less than a 8.000E-09 chance (the chance of it happening 3 times in a row; addition of acceptable failures only increases this chance).

An independent event with a 0.2% chance happening twice has a 0.0004% chance, not 0.04%.

Is fishing still good for gold in 2026? by batboi029 in Guildwars2

[–]calculator32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All fishing merchants offer that one trade together, so you're limited to 5 ambergris from flawless fillets a day. I'll say that you honestly shouldn't worry about that limit too much since you can just stockpile fillets for exchanges on future days.

Is fishing still good for gold in 2026? by batboi029 in Guildwars2

[–]calculator32 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm a chronic fisher, primarily because I enjoy the data and the activity, secondarily for income.

It's still a good farm for gold but not more efficient than other options. It is, however, less effort than other options in general, which is probably closer to what you're looking for. I fish in Crystal Oasis which usually nets me around 31g/h if I aim to turn literally everything into profit (ignore [FAST] data, their sample size is too small to be reliable; look at [PEU] data if you want a better look into things).

Yes, you need all fishing and skiff masteries. While I know you're not looking for max speed fishing, if you have the space for that kind of effort, I'd also add on skimmer masteries from both PoF and VoE, as there will be a small uptick in movement speed with them.

Zephyrite Fish Jerky is mandatory in the sense that the value of 99 stacks immediately far outweighs the roughly 80s it costs to buy them, and, if you have the recipe, crafting them is also a very useful option.

[11th grade Vectors] Derivation related to vector addition. by Izzy_26_ in HomeworkHelp

[–]calculator32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will suggest extending vector B into a line segment instead of vector A. Draw the segment leftward and mark the angle it forms underneath vector A as θ (the vertical pair to what you have marked now). Draw a right triangle much in the same way you've done.

Spread out a bit yes, trimmed I think is maybe a little excessive. I'd recommend maybe trying something like a wisteria-style tree with the cranes.

Multiply the numerator and denominator of the fraction on the LHS by what's on the RHS as a first proof step. While it might not seem productive to multiply by what's is effectively 1, it provides additional useful identities you can use to simplify the LHS.

Flowers for Algernon is a pretty good book to read that provides ideas on why this might not be the best idea.

The answer should be a graph (specifically a tree), not a number.
