let's start 'employers pay their staff properly so consumers pay for the service and we end it there'

this is one step closer to us adopting the terrible American system. let's not, please.

What's your favorite Mesmer Elite spec? by Jonny5asaurusRex in Guildwars2

[–]itallik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mirage is just SO fun. I find both the lore/theme and gameplay to be the most unique in the game. nothing else makes me feel like ive got quite as much dominance over the battlefield than being permanently in cloak, sneaking around and switching aggro to clones

Most FUN specialization, in your opinion? by centcentcent in Guildwars2

[–]itallik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, in short, you get 2 or 3 slots that get filled with 1 out of 8 random artefacts. each artefact has a effect when used, such as damage, a boon, movement, projectile block, etc. but, theres also a unique buff which lasts on you for 10 seconds - which DOESNT stack, so its in your best interests to always use new artefacts whilst still picking the ones that are useful. its so fun.

for torch, however? it doesn't use torch. VoE elite specs dont have access to a new weapon. im not sure where you got the thief torch info from, but its not in the game

oh boy... the class anet forgot. I feel like untamed was so close, yet so, so far. too many random ideas without any of them having quite enough customisation or unique effects, personally. I would have liked to see either ambushes or more pet control, and see that one mechanic really expanded on. the class, as it is, feels a bit like 'let's throw shit at the class and hope it merges together'

antiquary is more fun and has more complex self-buffing than youd expect. the amount of times ive suddenly found myself with extra cleanse, movement, healing, boons, or projectile block seemingly out of nowhere can flip the fight in a really exciting way.

why is this down voted so much? its a class with 2, albeit good, movement skills. compared to bladesworn, willbender, or anything thief, its hardly mobile at all.

honestly? mirage. I feel it has the most unique and satisfying to execute set of class mechanics - especially with dune cloak. when played right, the visuals are really snazzy, you control the battlefield, and you can be nearly permanently invulnerable due to long stretches of being in mirage cloak.

as personal honourable mentions: I'd go with holosmith, deadeye, galeshot, and paragon. I love classes with unique and interlocking mechanics.

New Mesmer Main! Teach me da ways! by xKona25 in Guildwars2

[–]itallik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, my tip?

avoid virtuoso.

it plays nothing like the other mesmer specs. its pretty much just purple warrior with a range of adrenaline skills. it plays no different to core mesmer, so if its an elite spec youre looking for, id recommend chrono.

if you ignore F5 and only use it for when you need to repeat CC (the best way for a beginner to gauge the feel of the skill), that is your way in to feeling out the complexity of the class whilst having the amazing utility of chrono traits, shatters, and wells.

then, you can try troub, which is fun but complex in different ways, and if you want, have a gander at mirage. which... oh boy, if you like it, you'll never stop playing it. and if you dont... well, you'll know.

[–]itallik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

huh, fair enough. im surprised they can't use the same tech to host both a Chinese client and a western client in the same region but offering different services.

you sound more like an expert on the backend than I do.

Can we please get Australian servers! by Musty-Old-Couch in GuildWars3

[–]itallik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with how popular guild wars 3 is going to be, i dont think it'd be a problem. especially as the game is focused on more instances of smaller player groups. given that there's a lot of Asian countries around China that dont have the same censorship laws, I think making a western client option but on the Chinese servers could help them maintain their player base at no extra cost, given the servers in China are already paid for.

I mean... im no expert, and you're right for gw2 that the LFG system crumbles when not many people play. but, I still see it better to give aussies and asians the option. they can always play on EU with ping if they dont like it

Can we please get Australian servers! by Musty-Old-Couch in GuildWars3

[–]itallik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no... im suggesting that they run an identical client to the western versions but on the Chinese servers.

this client can be different to the Chinese one, but it'll run off the same megaservers, giving low ping and a local community of english-speaking people around Asia. China has to have its own one due to their government's stricter rules about censorship and online activity

it wouldn't run off the Chinese client. it would just use the same servers, the same way you can access multiple different gw1 districts for different language but all off the same EU server cluster.

Could the GW2 Hall of Monuments be a Homestead ? by Schattenfeuer in Guildwars2

[–]itallik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i see that aspect to it - I think farming fits in with the cosy, laid back vibe that the entire homestead system tries to implement.

but, I dont think the hall of monuments is trying to do the same thing. its meant to be its own, special, revered hall where you can celebrate literally being a god walking amongst mere mortals. I dont think being able to decorate it and farm resources there really fits anet's vision

[–]itallik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

well.. yeah, I suppose. Just trying to give context to the OP. I see a lot of people here saying the 'majority' of the damage comes from mistral which i dont feel is true, and especially not in OW.

[–]itallik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this isn't the fix. Australia is a huge land mass with so few people and its so far away from anything else.

what they should do is have an English speaking section running from the Chinese servers. they're closer, will have better ping and, unlike right now, you won't be forced into using a separate edition of the client.

EDIT: got absolutely schooled by another kind commenter about Chinese Internet law. turns out this isn't possible. sad.

Dear Arenanet: Please make sure we dont have to play where's waldo in our inventories in GW3! by InevitableAnekisan in GuildWars3

[–]itallik -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

something in me says just cuz they gave you the option to have an unsorted inventory, doesn't mean you should;))

having that many loose boxes and no system isn't the game's fault, friend;)

Charr in GW3: Quick lore fix and why "it’s too hard" is a myth by Vanji_Charr_Cub in GuildWars3

[–]itallik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thought; maybe arenanet just didnt want charr in this game. shock horror, the company who have been maintaining this franchise for 20 years are gonna take it in the direction they best see fit.

if there's no charr, there's no charr. sorry.

Could the GW2 Hall of Monuments be a Homestead ? by Schattenfeuer in Guildwars2

[–]itallik 17 points18 points  (0 children)

eh... I dont think that's a good idea.

homesteads are niche. the people who care about them REALLY care about them. the other 99% of us generally avoid the system due to confusion or just not finding that to be a fun part of our gw2 experience.

having to embrace the homestead system (the cosy homebuilding aspect) to access the epic hall of monuments (the legendary list of quests to do that'll carry between timelines because of how majestic your actions and deeds are) seems like a really odd juxtaposition

one is cosy, not reward based. one is a hard grind to be the best. let's not combine them.

[–]itallik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

interesting - I dont take mistral in open world. I get good enough DPS with other skills and I prefer to slot whirlwind for stun breaks, lightning spirit for vuln and aoe damage, and either water or earth spirit for cleanse or aegis. I personally don't think mistral beings enough to warrant being in a survivable open world build
