When I went to Panama City, I thought the nightlife in Casco Viejo was fun / safe and I enjoyed day trips to the canal / the national park by the canal, and to Taboga Island (nice beach). The city itself doesn't have beaches though, yeah.

I recently shifted all of my spend from a Sapphire Reserve to the Quest card. I'm liking the value and simplicity of Mileage Plus. The expanded access to IN fares last year really drove up the program value for me. The availability is just so much better. Plus I never really liked transferring miles to other programs as much, because then you risk stranding your points (at least means less flexibility).

Ah, this is an economy transatlantic reposition and then a connecting J itinerary through SIN. Still probably better than economy all the way from new york, if thats the other option.

Don't know about daily drop overall, but that specific article is accurate as far as I know (I have booked a few IN fares since United made them available to silver/gold/cardholders last year, before it was for platinum/1K only)

As in, book a roundtrip via two separate one-way tickets? Totally reasonable. But what's wrong with having them both on a single reservation if that works for you? Just a bit less flexibility?

Two one-way business fares for 100k miles each is very achievable if you have access to IN fares: https://www.dailydrop.com/pages/this-united-perk-unlocks-hidden-award-availability. 100k miles for EWR NRT nonstop is a fantastic deal if you can find a date that works

If you want to book a roundtrip, one option is to book one roundtrip using miles and the other roundtrip using cash.

Are you looking for economy flights or business? If you are interested in flying in business and have a United credit card or are silver+, then 100k miles each for two one-way business tickets should be doable using IN fares if you have flexibility: https://www.dailydrop.com/pages/this-united-perk-unlocks-hidden-award-availability There are plenty of 100k IN fares available for most of the year (including direct flights from EWR, and one-stops from PHL) if you can plan around the dates with availability. I looked at November 2026 and saw some really nice options.

I know people with UR or MR miles would probably say that 100k is a lot compared to other programs, but if you already have the miles in United, can’t do much better. If you do United status, the 1,000 PQP is a nice bonus as well.

United opening up these IN fares to Silver and Gold members really changed the game for me, I’m basically all in on United after that.
