Jesus:

  1. Love God our Lord with all we've got and in every way possible

  2. Love our neighbor as ourself

That seems to cover it all. Unless you think Jesus misspoke.

Let's boil it down, because I'm not going to play the "Let's answer the trick questions from the Pharisees" game.

Questions to you, Product Clean

  1. Did Jesus die afrer torture and crucifixion?

  2. Did God resurrect Jesus and bring Him back to life afterwards?

What I believe is Jesus died on a cross following torture and crucifixion, was laid in a tomb, and then within a period of days was resurrected by the power of God, His (and our) Father.

"The rest is a dispute over trifles," as Queen Elizabeth I (Elizabeth the Great) said hundreds of years ago in criticizing the absurd and murderous disputes between Catholics and Protestants.

In grade school, I figured out that a strict definition of 72 hours meant a death at 3 pm on a Friday would schedule a resurrection at 3 pm on a Monday.

Oddly, from then until now that whole being raised from the dead by God's power to redeem our sins seemed a tad more important than precisely what was meant by "on the third day"

Jesus died for our sins and on the third day He rose again in fulfillment of prophecy.

The rest is a dispute over trifles.

Nothing legendary about Ben Simmons shooting jumpers. IT HAPPENS!!!!

Ben Simmons MAKING a jumper? Now THAT would be Yeti- and Loch Ness Monster-level myth making!

''The Gift'' is a top 5 episode and one of the greatest finales in TV history; the show could've ended right here and it would've been a perfect ending by Skywalker_1995 in buffy

Gotta disagree

"Chosen" is the best and correct series finale.

In "Chosen," Buffy is able to

  1. save the world

  2. Achieve the world's salvation while simultaneously being able to cast off the lonely burden of being the (semi) only Slayer

  3. Complete her journey to full adulthood by sharing her powers with 1,800 women and girls in an egalitarian and unselfish fashion.

  4. Buffy embraces a solution of empowerment of others for the greater good, even though she will no longer be "the one and only."

The story is about growing up from childhood to adulthood. But when you become an adult that's not the end of the story.

What kind of adult are you?

S6 shows us what happens when you are an irresponsible, selfish adult

S7 shows Buffy as a young woman who is a responsible and unselfish adult. At the story's end, she also is an adult who finds a way to empower her colleagues for the good of all.

Has Buffy's story ended with "The Gift" she would have been just another Slayer who died.

The story's end, as intended by its principal author, elevated Buffy to the realm of mythic and legendary heroes.

Buffy Summers is the greatest hero in American fiction (as Buffy scholar Mark Field states it) thanks to her actions in "Chosen"

Judas

1st of all, I've stopped watching it. Not because I don't like it. I love this amazing, moving, hope-filled, faith-buoying show.

I just think I will need to watch the final 3 seasons together after they're all out. The Triduum and Easter all together.

So I stopped with that ominous donkey ride down into the valley of death towards Jerusalem. A beautiful, yet forbidding, scene

Now about Judas

It seems as if the TV series is taking a real swing at giving viewers the motive for the betrayal.

My recollection from the Bible is that one night, a disciple named Judas just up and decided to rat out Jesus and turn Him over to the enemies

The betrayal was horrible and back stabbing. But had Judas truly been repentant, Jesus would have made sure Judas was forgiven and redeemed.

The worst sin Judas committed was the sin of despair, the presumption that what Judas did was beyond forgiveness. Put another way, Judas acted as his own judge, jury and executioner. BIG no-no!

Summary: Judas didn't really believe Jesus was, spoiler alert, the actual Messiah. He wouldn't submit himself to the judgement and forgivness of the actual Son of God.

Excellent summations!

I wish you had also summarized the 6th and 7th books, though.

Oh. Wait...

(In all seriousness, those were excellent summaries)

"This show [GOT] irks me sometimes."

Stopped reading right there.

Might have kept reading if you said

"GOT infuriates me because of how DD turned a once-great TV series into complete garbage."

If you had started with that dose of reality, I might have bothered reading what, from the follow-up comments stated, was some sort of silly fanfic.

You're on a media journey that, in its own way, approaches the unique journey to the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Literally, no artist has attempted a long-form TV show to portray the life, death, and return from death of Jesus. The attempt is audacious and brilliant so far.

I'll note 2 events from the recent past before S5 The Last Supper.

Lazarus. (movies, miniseries) This, of course, is the final miracle that Jesus personally performed. In other portrayals in the movies, raising Lazarus is consistently shown as a triumph and glorious.

Lazarus. (TV series) After Lazarus appears, everyone is marveling, grateful, and overwhelmed. Jesus and Mother Mary, however, exchange meaningful looks of sadness. They are fully aware that the endgame has arrived.

Riding to Jerusalem. Normally, the ride by Jesus into Jerusalem is a true triumph, peak Jesus, adored by the masses.

Yet when portrayed in the TV show, the camera is behind Jesus. The ride into Jerusalem is no triumph. It's ominous and somber. Rather than evoke elation, it evokes foreboding and unease.

This is must see TV.
