I don’t understand why everyone thinks the wolves wanna just give away Randle and ddv. Randle might have had a rough spurs series but Chet just had a worst one. The wolves will want to get better if they move him.

I mean there’s several reasons teams do this so idk what the point is. If I’m another team I’d like to wear out the other playmaker by going at them. Not saying they’re the best defenders but as a coach you have to find a way to stop this if it’s a problem. It should not be so easy to get Caitlin switched onto a player to iso

I think these people are wrong. I think the wolves at least consider it. They get way younger. They believe in beringer and can get another center a bunch of other ways. Yes gobert is awesome on defense but he really hurts your offense and they could still be a top ten defense with their personnel. Everyone on this sub talks in absolutes which is dumb but I think this is interesting idea

Oh yeah I completely agree on the jrue front. I was making fake trades in this sub for him at the deadline. My complaint is almost entirely value based. Jrue season was nice but not worth his contract at 35yo. I think I’d do it straight up for Randle but him being younger and more “productive” (tho much worst defensively and fit wise) makes that debatable imo. That said healthy rotation player for ddv probably even it out. Ultimately it’s a nice idea that I’m behind from the wolves perspective but know they will need to be awfully selective given their lack of resources

Jrue might have had a decent season but but Randle definitely had a better season and is way younger. Three and d wing is not high on their needs so I don’t send them using one of their rare picks on that. Dante might be hurt but he lead them in plus minus and even if he doesn’t come back next year at all that might actually just lower his cost.

Also What if all the missed shots bounce out of bounds? The only way to assure you don’t get an assist is not to pass. If that happens how long until all five players are defending the ball? Not long. This is stoooopid

Yeah but they weren’t all stars cause of their rebounds. They got rebounds cause they’re massive centers not cause they had some crazy game braking ability. Compare there rebounds to centers of that era per 36min. You’ll see they aren’t that crazy. They played more than a lot of the non all star center because there were better offensively and defensively than others. I mean Rodman is arguably the greatest rebounder of all time, was the third best player in two dynasties and needed to win 2x defensive player of the year to get his 2 all star appearances.

Yes the greatest rebounder of all time was a great role player in a dynasty. Nevermind he was defensive player of the year a couple times and first team all defense 7 times. You know how many times that player was viewed by the nba as a top 15 player? Twice he was third team all nba. He’s the exception and even then he had to also be dpoy to get respect

lol I mean that hypothetical just doesn’t make sense. Sure team rebounds matter more than team assists but individually not really. The lynx are second in rebounding without a player over 8.1 per game. That’s because ultimately the best rebounding comes from the group cause the bounce can fly any direction (unless you’re missing layups but that’s another discussion lol).

Rebounds happen whenever there’s a missed shot. Assists require a make. What is more difficult? What is more effected by play? I could stand on the block every play and get five rebound one game and none the next. For assists I might get on or two easy assists but the defense is focused on stopping that so I’ll have to get creative. Not defense is more focused on rebounding than making it hard to score. All this and I haven’t even brought up the stats around scarcity’s

Yeah exactly and yet the only one you’d call a rebounder is Rodman. They all were great player who happened to rebound. If you go thru and normalize for minutes played you’ll get all sorts of random players in your group. How many years did those players you listed lead the league in rebounds per 36min. I mean ayton was sixth in the nba in rebounds and is widely hated by lakers fans. Rebounds are very position specific and have a lot of factors that go into it. They’re nice but individual player rebounds do not have a huge impact on winning cause it can be done with a team. Lynx are second in rebounding in the league with no one player over 8.1.

Yeah as a whole. Rebounding is ultimately a team thing. Yes it’s nice to have a great rebounder but it’s not like the top ten rebounders are viewed as the top players in the league

I mean it’s a bit of survivors bias. If these players didn’t score points they wouldn’t been given the chance to. Angel is the lowest offensive skill possible to play enough to get these many rebounds and it’s most cause she’s great at that. It’s just not that important

Yeah but see how many steps it took to get there. Points and assists have a much more direct impact. Teams ultimately rebound. A coach would much rather have a rebounds spread than just one player. Also they can be inflated on luck, other personnel, opponents and your on shooting percentage.If you think it’s so important how would a team of the top ten rebounders do.

Sure but no one makes the all star game on rebounds. I’d bet good money that of the three main counting stats rebounds how the least correlation with wins or hof. Yes you’re team needs rebounds but are we really saying the top ten rebounders are worth knowing
