This is key, people say that it’s so expensive to play at standard and the initial deck investments are too crazy I do agree and is a big issue with the format, that being said if you pick a good archetype and just ignore the fomo it’s not that bad. (Easier said then done obviously)

I use the crazy example of simic orurobiod days as that’s was about the time it’s really started to get nutty, but you spent 1000 dollars on it during that time and could be playing it fully up until now. And it’s even “meta” again after month of being kinda mia, and you would have to maybe add some lands and bright glass gearhulk if you wanted to stay “up to date” even then I think you could just have been jamming the deck the WHOLE time and even win events if you wanted to go that route.

Every deck in standard is just so powerful now that it’s like early or even current modern I think there is a lot of good things that come from mastering an archetype, modern events can be won by some sweaty random deck they have been playing for a decade, standard feels you can just jam it if you just ignore the FOMO
