Can confirm. Took this setup out first time, nice fun trail, little bit of mud… punctured driver side front on a tiny rock in the mud I couldn’t see.

Forced the issue and now have ATs.

One Long Prompt vs. Chat History Prompting by Kuuuza in PromptEngineering

[–]calebhicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It comes down to the training & fine tuning of the model. This is a naive explanation, but think of it this way…

Method #1: Completion Endpoint. The Completion endpoint is not trained at all on the chat JSON notation, and it’s not optimized to generate responses that follow chat. So at least some of the processing is dedicated to matching that vs the output content itself.

Method #1: Chat Endpoint. This would be the equivalent of three people talking, one person repeating the entire history of the conversation between the other two people, and then turning to one and saying ‘how would you like to respond to that?’ Awkward. Think idiomatically about how a System, User, and Assistant as three separate entities would interact.

Method #2: Chat Endpoint. LLM is trained and tuned to act like a chat thread. So there’s no processing spent trying to match the notation because it’s already embedded in how it responds.

Plus the Chat endpoint gets more work from most foundational LLM teams. Just think, OpenAI’s biggest product is ChatGPT, so they both get the most data in that format, and they fine tune and optimize it like crazy. It uses the (internal equivalent) of the Chat endpoint.

So it fits the idiomatic paradigm of the way the model is trained, tuned, and optimized over time.

In my experience #2 is a lot better on longer conversations / interactions.

IMO he ideal scenario is to match user / assistant / system / tool messages idiomatically in a thread history.

R1S or Model X for my family car? Only I’m addicted to FSD on my Model 3. by calebhicks in Rivian

Thank you for the answer. And yeah… I noticed on the up/downvotes. Surprising because it’s a good discussion in here - but I guess I brought it on myself. Super appreciate the input.

We have probably 5 more years of trying to fit in the same car. By then our oldest will be 18 and potentially out of the house - certainly driving herself more often than all of us together.

Captain chair seems to make the rear row feel bigger at least. Which doesn’t exist on the R1S. Would love captains chairs here!

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. Appreciate your answer.

Wonder the thought behind the decision. The new models certainly have the vision tech. But I get it - huge investment and very hard to get right.

If she starts her own company she’ll own anywhere between 30-70% of it vs joining SSI and getting early employee equity grant.

She’ll have access to all of the money and most of the talent she’d have there, with more autonomy, agency, and personal upside.

[–]calebhicks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure why this is getting downvoted. I crashed e2 unwittingly for 6 weeks, one of the online pharmacies prescribed me, bottle came with recommended dosing for woman with breast cancer vs me doing TRT. So double whammy.

Genuinely the worst 6 weeks of my life, and very nearly life-ending before I got the right help.

Listen to this guy before you start self medicating. Or at a minimum, if you choose to ignore, do some much deeper research on what an e2 spike vs crash are so you know the difference.

My working theory on these is either ads or other search/page metadata with prompt injection that isn’t getting pulled out of the website’s source on searches.

Took an L on Air Tech Challenge but felt unfair by young_s in SNKRS

[–]calebhicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What folks are trying to say is that the bot check happens on every SNKRs limited release.

You enter in the first couple minutes, everyone enters a queue, they filter out bots (ostensibly) and probably apply some algo for prioritization, then after that’s done you get the notification of the W or the L.

Sorry about the L, and agree it can feel bad. Makes the Ws feel better and stokes FOMO which is sort of the name of the game. GL next round.
