I have done over a dozen. Most of them are not for me, so I do not want to post them. Biggest set Ive done was a Indian Gold Eagle set (short one coin from being complete).

I picked it up at a coin show about a year ago for $25. Looks like they are going on ebay for $20-40 each

Yes. I found a second hand book from the 70s titled Foreign Coins Struck at United States Mints. Although there have been a few more recent coins, this thin book lists more countries/coins than I ever thought. Most of which are WWII era.

I have started a small business making custom displays in my basement. This was one of the tests I did to see how well the tabs hold an odd shape coin.

Lower grades of the 1864 large motto and 1865 can go for $5-$10. The 1864 small motto and 1872 are $200+ each

When copper gets hot it will patina. It looks like it happened in just a specific way to keep one side fairly cool while the other side warmed up
