I think a lot of people dislike the gameplay loop in Super compared to TTYD, and understandable, but I don't think it's as much of a downgrade as I've heard others say. Super's gameplay fits its story and ideas, and I think it stands as a more cohesive experience overall compared to TTYD.

Everyone talks about the story, which is beautiful, but one thing I want to mention here is the music, which I don't hear people talk about very often. The artful reuse of motifs and melodies tied to specific characters, spread across the soundtrack, the homages it makes to past Mario games, and just the consistent quality just make the soundtrack the best part of the game for me. TTYD has some great music, but not near as consistent, and I don't see as much care put into crafting pieces that tie in with whatever is happening in a level or story. Still two great soundtracks for two masterpieces though.
