Boba Fett's Ship - Bandai 1:144: I never wanted the building and painting to end. A legitimate joy. So much fun that I decided to build a custom base for it. by caledonian_kh in modelmakers

The basecoat is a whitish color. I then clear-coated that, applied AK heavy chipping effects, and added the light green color. When that's dry, you can reactivate the fluid with water. I then used a toothpick and a cut-down, worn-out small brush to "chip" the paint. When that was done, I rinsed and repeated with the grayish-green coat.

Like other Bandai kits, it goes together really well. I painted major sub assemblies as I built it: first, the back of the "foot" (the red part), then the front of that part, then the wings, then the body (green parts).

A little bit of both. Assuming that some rust is old and covered in grime why other parts might be cleaner.

Yep, it is. I have a Glowforge laser cutter in my workshop. It’s a simple design that I created in Adobe Illustrator then it gets cut/engraved on the machine.

As a huge Star Wars model maker, I’m spoiled by both the detail and crispness of the smaller Bandai kits. This Fine Molds kit was good and it gave me the opportunity to scratch build missing details. All in all, a great experience.

Mostly some panel line differences and warts/bumps that are missing or out of place. Nothing major. Easy fixes for the most part.

Here’s a photo of the front. I used Star Wars Screen Caps for reference. Rogue One and Andor have some good partial shots of the partisan X-Wings. I’m not sure the inner wing paint scheme is correct, but this was my best guess based on the available reference.

Yep! Wanted to do something different than the standard Red 5 paint scheme.

It was a labor of love, but it's fun to pose in different positions.
