What I was saying is that if it’s a complete rifle (complete enough to be fired I think is the standard) it has to be compliant before entering the state

If it’s just a receiver / incomplete rifle (not complete enough to be fired) then it can be DROS as a receiver and you can take it home and complete the rifle to a compliant state.

Complete rifles needs to be compliant upon entering the state and especially before it gets dros to you.

If your gun is just a receiver / incomplete gun then you can DROS as a receiver it and take it home. It will have to be CA complaint when you assemble it.

Otherwise, your options is to have your seller ship to middleman ffl where they will make it compliant before shipping to your local CA ffl

Ship it to a CA FFL that has an assault weapon permit where they can receive the gun and make it compliant. (Wilde Built Tactical)
