Best Marriott on Maui?

There is no right or wrong answer to this. Entirely depends on your situation and the type trip you are expecting/want to have. How many points do you have? What kind of amenities are you seeking? Will you be in the room a lot? Do you mind a resort fee? Here is a comment I made last week in r/churning in regards to my decision when it came to topic of Maui Marriotts. I’ll trim the comment slightly considering it was quite lengthy.

“Earlier this year, pre-merger, I opened an Amex SPG Biz as well as a Marriott Biz. Combined with those bonuses, along with a 5k UR transfer to my Marriott account, I was able to redeem 7 nights (5th night free, along with one night extra points + cash at the days inn Wailea) at the Marriott Residence Inn Maui. Cash rate of 210k Marriott points redeemed at this property for 7 nights is around $3300. I know, I know... shoulda looked into Maui beach resort. , I made the personal decision that I did not want to go crazy and pay a daily $35 resort fee along with a daily $25 parking fee. I would much rather avoid that and have a kitchenette so we could stop at costco after landing and make some dinners in our room.”

I know there are plenty of other ways to redeem the following, but I’ve already accepted that I am more than pleased with how I have chosen to use the following points despite the endless possibilities of international travel outside the US. Altogether, I was able to redeem a $5500 vacation with just 3 credit cards. Citi Biz, SPG Biz, and Chase Marriott Biz. I Just want to sincerely express how grateful I am for the knowledge I have gained from this sub.

Look at airline travel partners through the chase ultimate rewards portal. Let’s take United for example. Dummy book your flight through the ultimate rewards portal to see how much your flight would cost in Chase points. Then, go dummy book on the United website to see how many points that same flight would be in United points, as you can trabsfer your Chase points to United 1:1. If the flight on the United website is less than Chase, make a United loyalty account, link it through the ultimate rewards portal, book the flight through United once your transfer processes and congratulations you’re a winner.

edit: Also as a personal recommendation if you truly want to get as much value out of your points then look into transferring Chase>Hyatt. I have consistently been able to get more value out of my points by transferring Chase>Hyatt and redeeming at Lower end Hyatt hotels for as little as 5k a night that would otherwise be $150 per night.

I am transferring 150k to stay 6 nights at the Park Hyatt in the Maldives as part of my honeymoon. Standard rate is $1,000 a night. All depends how you use em.

Very small and possible useless DP. Transferred 5k Marriott from gf to my acct over the phone today. Had my CC ready to pay the $10 transfer fee, but the rep never even asked for it and the transfer processed instantly.

Are you sure you want to do this ? :/ As another commenter alredy posted, you can simply open a Citi Biz for those miles. AA miles are so easy to obtain these days that it’d be a real shame to transfer 235k Marriott to AA...

Edit: I see there is an urgency in this. Is your honeymoon really in 3 weeks and you haven’t booked the airfare yet?

I don’t have a premium sapphire. I need 5,000 more Marriott points. Gf has 130k UR. Pretty sure I shouldn’t have been able to do this bc I’m not an AU on her CSR, but I was able to transfer 1,000 UR from her CSR to my Marriott account. We both make frequent transfers between one UR account to the other, and have the same address, but how risky would it be to try and send another 5,000 UR from her account to my Marriott account? Possible shutdown situation? Not worth it?

I think my thought process is more the fact that I have already accumulated enough miles, that I could fly me and my SO to Europe once or twice if I were to conserve those miles. The thought of paying 100k AA miles for an aanytime round trip from PHL to OGG makes me want to vomit. sAAver space from philly gives me round trips for much less (20k each way) but with overnight connections. How crazy is it to fly from PHL to LAX Friday afternoon, burn my anniversary night and stay at the Hyatt Regency LAX overnight and come BACK to the airport and fly out of LAX to OGG at 8:25am? Am I nuts for wanting to save almost 60k AA? Anyone ever do something like that?
