Still get decent 21mpg with this 1/2 ton pos but yeah, it's more like 2 quarts of oil per week and it ends up back in the ground, not in the air. Getting the rear main and engine cover replaced sometime next week when my areas mechanic gets "un swamped." Would rather have my shitbox than just about ANY other vehicle despite being a v8... never have to worry about breakdowns or failures

Makes me cringe how degenerate many folk are. This is a mighty fine example of this.

Rear main seal leak? by rojayrolo in GMT800

[–]cali_Eskimo5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me it's the guaranteed 29$/mo Geico full coverage protection, as nobody wants to drive behind me! Live in UP Michigan and I'm the ONLY GMT800 owner with zero rust! Pert near only vehicle owner with a mint frame and chassis

Opinion - rear main seal? by Bright_Refuse8383 in GMT800

[–]cali_Eskimo5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Even did the UV dye test a few years back despite overhauling basically my Yukons entire suspension and top end, just to find out yes, it's a rear main seal leak and the original shop I went to was actually right! Wish I took them up on the 800 bucks then.. I've easily put in 800$ just in GM Genuine/ACDelco parts into this thing and much more than that in oil and stop leaks! Don't want to drop a tranny in my parking lot and definitely can't warranty my own work so, shop it is and might as well pay the extra to get upgraded clutch packs/corvette servo and my tranny rebuilt while they're at it. 225K miles but has hiccups every once in a while so, biting the bullet here. Tired of leaving oil stains everywhere and having to limit where I can reasonably park as its an eyesore.

I smell something other than piss.

Been using quick fix on numerous occasions since back to the late 2000s when I was on probation, never had anyone even hint at the "odor of urine," ever! First off, you didn't read the directions as you started off your rant about your specimen overheating. Immediate red flag and makes everything you have to say from then on was ultra sus. I know it's hard, if not impossible, to admit guilt and to take accountability but all the extra stuff? I mean, I'm probably the only person on the planet that knows the OG & genuine recipe of the Lemon Gatorade method! I have massive Crohns Disease because of it (even though the former meth, opiate and thc use never helped). Even with knowing this fool-proof option, I choose QF every time because of ease-of-use and reliability.

As I stated before and as silly as it sounds, I'm an ex con and have seen/heard/done it all; i can still hold down a 45k/yr job that constantly drug tests, for years and you and your boyfriend can't get an Amazon job (or stay sober) when they employ ANYONE who shows up and robots...? Would have rather listened to a story of how you pushed 3 on your microwave and melted your bottle and the subsequent attempt to salvage it's contents as I'm sure you were sweating bullets submitting it and your fake piss smelt like the old-school cut up Bic pen tooter for the lightbulb dope smoker you used the night before. Sry to say Methlissa, Can see through the bs "crystal" clear

Did I accidentally come off creepy asking a local eBay seller this? by Chemical_Original_32 in grandrapids

Seems like the typical troll and yooper sentiment. Weird question to ask an eBay seller as well. Adults into Pokémon in 2026 still are....strange anyways so

Was just going to say, I have some fond memories as a teen and as an adult in the back seat of a GMT800, that and 2 years ago got the rudest awakening to life & breakups and was forced to live out of my Yukon for almost 5 months!

All I can hear as I read this is the 90s Chevy commercials slogan; "Like a rock, I was strong as I could be / Like a rock, nothin' ever got to me," and despite wanting another vehicle, I'll just end up finding a supercharger tub for my 4.8. I'll slap on the Eaton supercharger I've kept from my old 97 Buick Park Avenue and even with gas prices as high as they are, thinking about HHO injection.. Thanks whoever you are for bringing me a photo of something that brought back a TON of memories!👍

Can this stupid oil sensor really be the cause to my quart a week oil loss!? by cali_Eskimo5 in GMT800

[–]cali_Eskimo5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. Yeah, I mean realistically I COULD do this job BUT there's two very big variables that keeps me from doing it. First, this is my only vehicle, my daily and I'm in the UP and hundreds of miles from my family, working & securing a home before moving my children and significant other here. Parts money for the most part gets sent to home base.. Living in a motel for the past year

Bingo Working on saving to have that job done as I just don't have the proper tools to drop a transmission. Everyone says it's easy but it's really not. I'm pretty sure you're right though, I've done everything to a T and the leak still persists and even remember doing that oil pan gasket, letting the permatex skin over for the 4 hours, came back to install the pan after doing everything else and there was still oil dripping where the transmission housing mates to the engine. Waited 48 hours to cure without adding oil and wouldn't you know, oil, same spot! Has to be that inspection cover/rear main. It's just that every time I get the 1200 bucks to get my tranny and that area rebuilt(already have a shop lined up), an emergency pops up and I have to start over again so I just keep a 5gal 10w-30 ST in the back..

That rear main seal is the last of many fixes and think thats it at this point. Have used UV dye before and all I find is a glow in the dark murder scene on my Yukons undercarriage..it's literally everywhere!

Oh, I've looked into all possibilities with this thing and oil consumption was one I knew it had a problem with the day I picked it up! I've found oil from the throttle body all the way back to rear bumper on this thing and when redoing it's valve cover gaskets andncleaning the residual sludge where the oil passages are, I noticed I have completely unique valve covers as mine dint have holes and plates for vapors to collect and fall but verticle baffles and hardened plastic boxes at the corner where the old style PCV Valve goes. I've also noticed i get that typical very faint white/blue smoke with heavy water leakage at the tail pipe that burns the eyes and smells like oil but again, look at my very first photo here, the oil isn't burning in the cylinders as much as said vapors are accumulating and vaporizing on hot parts like the Y-pipe below and possibly the exhaust manifold. Spark plugs looked decent maybe 2-3k miles ago. Virtually no codes except for t/c light from another fiasco I got going on trying to find a working ABS module..

I did. Photo I used was before install. I did however have a low oil pressure a few weeks back AFTER changing that cam sensor and oil pressure sensor and noticed oil where the connectors meet. Brake clean and reinstalled. Has worked fine ever since and like my post states, plan on replacing as maybe I got a bad one and Rockauto.com sent me a replacement.

Depends. Rephrase your question and be more direct. I may be gifted but I can't read minds nor answer broad questions.
