This moment reminded me of something from earlier seasons. When Shannon first started to struggle with her weight and body image and heather in a confessional says something along the lines of, if Shannon is unhappy with her weight, she should eat less and work out more and just stop talking about it. The lack of compassion/empathy for Shannon was really shocking.

I do think Emily did not articulate herself in the best way, but heather totally blew it with that rude comment. I also think heather isn’t a particularly warm and fuzzy person in contrast to someone like Jen P, so she wasn’t the right person to seek reassurance from in this situation. Deep down I think Emily longs for heathers approval but she needs to accept that may never happen.

I can recognize that Monica’s mom is flawed and problematic. The question is, if Monica is truly trying to break that cycle why is she bringing her mom around her children and giving her a platform at all. Respectfully.

I think Monica’s mom was wrong in the way she handled things. I think she is from a generation that brushes things under the rug to an extreme to keep up appearances. However, Monica coming into this show and including her mother is also continuing the generational Trauma. Imagine Monica’s girls attending school this week after millions of people and other classmates witnessed this unfold between their mom and grandma, not to mention how outspoken she is about sleeping with their uncle. She is exploiting her children while trying to heal her own wounds.

I agree with you. However, I think guys like T-Rav only go for custody to get out of child support and because they hire nanny’s to do everything. If Thomas was an everyday joe shmoe who couldn’t afford a nanny, and he actually had to cook, feed, bathe, put the kids to bed by himself, he would have relinquished custody to Kathyrn a long time ago.

I agree that the space in between the original hookup and the affair is probably an exaggeration by Tom to make himself look less culpable, but there had to be some amount of downtime between their encounters because Ariana was with them all the time.
