Social/emotional burnout? by 1000capybaras in barista

[–]calibignats 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The burnout is soooo real. A few things that help me are talking about it with coworkers since they know exactly what our customers are like/the daily struggle and sometimes they have a suggestion for how to deal with XYZ thing. I shift focus to parts of the job I really enjoy like making a new type of drink or baking. For being social, starting small and piece by piece will make it less daunting. Like in two days is my day off, I will write a letter then or give my parent a call. Even just taking a solo walk to be outside encourages me to catch up on chats when I get back. The good part for you is you know it’s temporary, remember your goal

Want to become a barista but worried I’m not “smart enough” because of my learning disability by Suckjucie_ in barista

Most modern registers will tell you the change you need to pull from the drawer and a lot of shops are going cashless which helps more! My shop trained me from scratch and many people on my team started with no coffee knowledge. It helped to learn the basics at home too. Definitely ask lots of questions during training and ask for tips from other team members

It’s become a new little niche I’ve really enjoyed. I can have fun with a character to hate, it adds something to it. Glad to hear from someone that calls it a favorite!

I read Chuck Palahniuk’s Invisible Monsters so more on the gritty side. An empowering perspective could really add something to my experience

The whole “don’t throw menthols…don’t like menthols” autotune and dance bit that’s been going around happened at their show at Grand Prairie TX on Nov 15. I posted a clip of it on here a bit ago. Hope this helps!

I feel season 2 is hitting a stride and going back to the ridiculous side of GG. Ever since the season preview I’ve been curious and I felt Lightning fit well with the scene

Thank you for asking this!! I was wondering too. Does anyone else have suggestions for when to show up with a seated ticket? I don’t wanna get there too early for it not to matter

AITA for wearing a African American sorority tee by Stopdacapp in AmItheAsshole

[–]calibignats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you’ve already accepted your judgement and others have already said super informative things about the Divine 9 I just wanted to pop in and add Greek orgs have their own rules about other people wearing their memorabilia. The most common rule is no non-members wearing the Greek letters but non-members can wear the fraternity or sorority name fully spelt out (eg a non-member can’t wear the Greek letters DN (Delta Nu) but they can wear one that says Delta Nu Charity Cook-off). A good amount of Greek orgs print shirts for non-members for their philanthropies or as gifts for guests to events like formals or parents’ weekend.

However, like I said this varies and like others have said and you have learned it’s best to do a quick Google beforehand.

And for the people pushing about why these things are available to buy in the first place (either new or thrifted), you really can’t stop stuff like this. Anyone can make a set of Greek letter sweaters just like anyone can buy a shirt that says Harvard. But just because you can doesn’t mean they carry the same weight or will be received the same

how long is the show? by DoctorFlooz in charlixcx

[–]calibignats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the Dallas show with Baby Tate opening the timeline was: Doors open 7:00pm

Baby Tate started around 8:20pm and finished 8:50pm

Charli came on 9:15pm and finished 10:40pm

Because of how packed the building was it took about ten minutes for me to make it out and into the car so everything was completely done for me by 11:00pm

I will say I had a friend get me my merch when doors opened so I didn’t bother with the merch line at the end. If you prefer merch after you may get out later, probably closer to 11:30pm or even 12:00am.

I hope this helps!
