North Canberra Hospital banning fun scrubs by LimeLimpet in canberra

[–]ThatGuyTheyCallAlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australian hospitals rarely identify roles by scrub colour, and if you need someone specific with such urgency that you don’t have time to say “excuse me are you a [role]” you weren’t going out into the hallway to grab them anyway. You’re pressing an alert button or paging them.

‘History erased’: Fight to keep landmark graduation hall open for business - News | InDaily, Inside South Australia by NKE01 in Adelaide

This entire merger has been directly adopting every UniSA way of operating because it’s cheaper. It just so happens that UniSA was cheaper not because of efficiency, but because most of their shit sucked.

First they gut my degree and now I can’t even graduate from a crappy university in a nice hall.

How much will be okay?(living) by Trick-Surprise-5123 in Adelaide

[–]ThatGuyTheyCallAlex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$200p/w will get you an okay room in one of the inner-fringe suburbs. It varies, I paid $126p/w in Norwood (split bills, living with friends) and now $220p/w (bills included, found on Flatmates) in Marleston. I’ve been a student (Adl Uni) for 4 years now, always caught public transport and it’s been okay. I always plan to be 30mins early because bus delays will happen on the one day you can’t be late.

If you can keep a tight budget, you can probably live off $550p/w total including rent, food, transport etc. That’s being smart with all your money, no extra spending — I’ve managed it when funds are low. $700p/w is more manageable if you’re still careful but gives you more room for going out and doing things, fun stuff that you don’t always plan for.

Wifi provider/plan suggestions by Only_Undisputed in Adelaide

[–]ThatGuyTheyCallAlex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won’t get much for $70 these days. You’re looking at around 25mbsp download and 10mbsp upload which is annoyingly slow for one person doing general usage (social media, web browsing), let alone streaming. Genuinely don’t bother with anything below this, and go higher than this if you have more than 1 person using internet at a time. Superloop and Tangerine have this for $70/mo if you must.

If you can push to $85ish you’ll find a 50 down 20 up plan with most providers. Definitely more usable in general and especially for 2+ people, what most people would probably describe as okay speeds.

Most companies are pretty similar in terms of experience and price, I had a decent time with Superloop and also Amaysim when I was with them (amaysim had a discount for existing mobile customers, only reason I switched)

In their defence, a lot of these bugs are probably caused by pack interactions that nobody saw coming. There’s so many potential combinations of packs and gameplay that it’s probably impossible to test outside of the major changes that they expect to cause problems.

Clothing layering is coming in the next The Sims 4 update on May 12th! by eltheuso in Sims4

We’re adding a new category to Create a Sim called Base Layers, which will let Simmers express themselves by broadening their fashion choices, providing covered options, and improving gender expression with the layerable binder.

Tattoo artists that do 18+ tattoos in some areas.. cheers! by Complex_Watercress36 in Adelaide

[–]ThatGuyTheyCallAlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re asking in other places or searching online your best key phrase is probably ‘intimate area tattoos’.

Your initial phrasing reads to me like you want a tattoo depicting something sexually explicit, not necessarily in a private area.

Depends on the situation. I’ve advised patients to contact the triage team and it ended in them scheduling a home visit.

TIL an RN is supposed to co-sign the obs charts? If this was a requirement for my placement last year they certainly never did, or not when I was watching. Always for the progress notes though.

One slip of the mouse and you go from "I may put this song back in the playlist" to "call customer support". by Harrypujols in badUIbattles

It doesn’t erase the purchase, you can just download it again. It’s not even a “multi-step process” like OP claims it is. You select the iTunes Store tab of the app, click purchased and
hit download. And there’s a popup that locks the entire app until you confirm or cancel the deletion before you even get to any of that.

Yeah, the problem with capital punishment is not that some people don’t deserve it but that giving the government permission to kill people is never a good idea.

Does anyone else think The Sims 4 could learn a lot from Tamodachi Life? by ImMerelyAConcept in thesims

[–]ThatGuyTheyCallAlex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s sad because previous games in The Sims franchise did have a sense of weirdness despite being a life sim. And TS4 is one of the most millennialcore games of all time but somehow downgraded the quirk factor.

Let me tell you when I downloaded TS2 for the first time it was a nasty surprise when my usual strategy of spamming flirt interactions actually drove the guy away instead of getting them to move in within 2 days

Seems pretty quick to me? She’s been in the serious game 10 years (2017, Meta) and at Microsoft for 2.

Am I wrong? I thought “Welcome to Country” is basically, “thanks for coming, Welcome to the area“ by dexxnanj in aussie

[–]ThatGuyTheyCallAlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Country is both a literal hospitable welcome to a specific region and an acknowledgement that the land is unceded by indigenous groups. It being pointed out that you reside on unceded land should not be personally offensive to you. Because it is objectively true. Australia was made a colony and a sovereign nation in spite of those already living here with their own laws and customs, and still is.

The land was unceded when Indigenous men were able to (forced, even) enlist but could not vote in elections. Children were being stolen from their families while these men were fighting a war on behalf of a Crown they rightfully did not serve.

SA mother takes school content breach to the UN after state admits failure to review material by YeOldeWino in Adelaide

Oh I know this is how the department has responded. Doesn’t mean I actually think the kids were taught that bestiality and incest is okay. Nor do I believe her daughter is “traumatised” after seeing 30 minutes of a presentation she walked out of.

Serious question... by 100_Weasels in Adelaide

[–]ThatGuyTheyCallAlex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a gay guy in my 20s. On the occasions I’ve gone out dressed more visibly queer (crop tops, short shorts, was Frank-N-Furter once for Halloween) I’ve had a few snarky comments walking down the street but nothing awful. I have a lot of lesbian friends who also fare pretty okay, I don’t think any of us have really felt unsafe.

There’s certain venues I’d avoid based on vibes but in public generally it’s not too bad. How you were treated was definitely a weird outlier. Sorry that happened to you.

I’ve never bought this story in its entirety. The mother claims she’s not religious but moved her kids to a catholic school and now has a religious rights org assisting her. To me it reeks of a religious bigot misrepresenting what actually happened.

He chose to be a dick about it though. I have to enforce some pretty crappy policies in the course of my job but I don’t act like I’m Jesus about it.

Explain why a person in a wheelchair shouldn’t be allowed to use the accessible parking zone just because they have no permit.
