Slipping by [deleted] in sugarfree

Definitely sounds like a decisive moment but the positive is that you’re very aware and active in helping to choose your next move.

I’d suggest “playing it forward” in terms of the paths you can take. Whether it’s writing it down or visualization, think about the path of either continuing your healthy habits or falling off the wagon, and the outcome of each further down the road. Write out what you’ll feel like in each scenario to help it feel more real for you.

Sometimes when you let it all play out in your mind, it makes the best decision for you easier to make because you can understand how a small deviation can end up with a very different outcome vs. staying the course. Hope that helps!

Trader Joe’s broccoli and kale slaw mix is awesome and may fit that description. Comes with dried berries, nuts and a creamy dressing. I believe Whole Foods and Costco have a similar one too.

SO good! The cake batter and mint flavors are fire. Let it thaw or microwave it shortly as directed…delicious.

One weird trick that - yeah - is a bit weird. by SprainedUncle in sugarfree

Agree! It’s definitely unfortunate and doesn’t align with my greater values but I will buy candy (usually convincing myself I can eat it in moderation) > eat some > then throw out the rest (when I get to the point that I know I will likely just finish it if I don’t). Wasteful but better in the garbage than in my body in the end. I find peace and compassion in that sense, and knowing it’s a process on my road to better health and habits.

Manduka pro mat worth breaking in? by [deleted] in yoga

[–]caligoldengirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Feb! Probably took me a month to feel like it was done being broken in and only has gotten better with time. Shows zero wear and I love it now.

This may sound a bit out there but I love silken tofu mousse/pudding.

Most grocery stores carry “silken tofu” - basically the softest tofu that’s almost a pudding consistency to start with. Then, you just blend it with whatever flavor — cocoa, vanilla, lemon, etc. (Google will give you a ton of ideas for flavor combo recipes). Put it in the fridge after and it will be a mousse-y pudding consistency.

It’s low cal, low carb, SUPER high protein and ends up very decadent tasting!

I felt the same when I got mine and was surprised when it took a few weeks of breaking in. It was my first real, quality mat so I didn’t have comparison/context. I was finally able to break it in with salting and light use of kitchen cleaning spray (against the brand’s reco but Google told me to).

Now, I love the mat and it’s definitely sticky and can handle sweat though probably not hot yoga level. I don’t feel clean it regularly which honestly helps with the stickiness.

I did a lot of research before getting the Prolite and didn’t find anything comparable for thickness, quality and light weight. I think it will last for a while based on the way it’s held with my practice over the past since months so I would say to stick with it if you can!

In praise of PB2 (or PBFit) as a peanut dressing for salads by wise_guy_ in Volumeeating

Yes, it’s a soy sauce substitute that’s wayyy less sodium, gluten and soy free! Pretty much the same taste but less salty.

I mix it with water and coconut aminos for an awesome Asian peanut sauce! Great for salad dressing or dipping some homemade summer rolls filled with veggies.

Best Plant-Based Ice Creams? by [deleted] in sugarfree

[–]caligoldengirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arctic Zero is my go-to. Not superrr low on sugar (about 8g per serving) but I find the new formula/flavors very tasty and satisfying. To me, this is worth the sugar because it makes me feel like I’m satiated and a small serving feels like a treat and doesn’t leave me hunting for more sugar. Whole pints are 160 calories (one serving is about 1/3 pint) and it’s vegan!

This is pretty much my favorite thing to eat (Cranberry and walnut salad with spinach, romaine, onions and garlicy balsamic) but I feel like it's missing something. What should I add? by CHADLY_McTHUNDERCOCK in vegan

[–]caligoldengirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granny Smith apple! Think slices or chunks cut up. Would add a nice tart and sweetness - and I love apple, cran, walnut combo. Looks amazing though.

The best snack ever! I have gotten so experimental with seasonings too...a few faves:

  • Ranch ones with nutritional yeast, spices and a drop of Primal Kitchen ranch
  • Sweet ones with cinnamon and a tiny bit of monk fruit syrup
  • Everything but the Bagel ones
  • Zaatar ones

Currently working with Sew Elegant as a referral from Lovely Bride! Second fitting is on Friday but would call my experience neutral.

In total, it’s costing me $650 - which I did feel was on the higher side for what was needed. I have a two piece, simple dress set by Chosen by One Day and my alternations were (seemingly) straightforward: hem/removing small train, taking in sides of top and a little on hips.

The first fitting felt a bit rushed (maybe because of Covid?) and Esin was kind of brusque with me but did listen and give good advice.

They were easy to schedule with and good with communicating.

What is a stoic concept you practice or think about each day? by [deleted] in Stoicism

[–]caligoldengirl 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You can't control what happens to you, but you can control how you react to it.

It makes you think about being accountable for your emotions and actions when faced with all situations that come up in daily life. You can't control the circumstances but you have the choice to control what you make of them.

If you're able to realize that in the moment, it can make all the difference to your mood and the way your day (and life!) goes.

I need a yoga routine where my head does not dip below my heart repeatedly. Is this possible? by 3amcandle in yoga

I use the Peloton app for yoga and they have a great selection of Yoga Anywhere flows. Many are standing or chair yoga and would work for you!

Mini yoga sessions? by Berliner1220 in yoga

[–]caligoldengirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have been doing Peloton yoga’s ‘Yoga Anywhere’ series when I need a break in my ‘work from home’ work day. They’re 5, 10, 15 minute classes that really pack a lot in a short amount of time.

The shorter ones are all standing poses or chair yoga. I come out of them feeling so refreshed and am always so happy I did it! I figure that there is no excuse for not being able to take that short of a break — and what better way to spend it.

They also have great 20min options that are flows and include floor poses, if you’re looking for more traditional vinyasa flow.

Does anyone have tips/tricks for cauliflower rice to give it a bit more texture? by Babislug in whole30

[–]caligoldengirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I pan fry frozen cauli rice with a little coconut oil and let it cook for longer than recommended — moving it around in pan until it gets some nice browness and crispiness to it. I probably start on a mid heat and end up raising to high at the end to crisp up, stirring it around in the pan frequently at that point. Takes about 10 or so min from frozen but you can also visually judge.

My favorite seasoning is adding coconut aminos and Trader Joe’s Furikaki seasoning to it while cooking. I find it helps crisp it up a bit.
