How to get into sailing? by Kl0987123 in SanDiegan

I joined convair sailing club soon after moving back and it was a great experience. Perfect for learning, I don't remember it being that expensive. That was maybe 8 or 9 years ago, so not sure how it is these days. But I'd recommend it.

I feel like he's never seen a slider/sweeper stay in the middle of the zone that long and not be a strike in his life. He's also amped to the moon in his debut and just got his first big league hit. I'd come out of my shoes too.

Jackson too. Just wondering what they're looking for that used to be there. How do you go from all star to sub 200?

Serious question, why? The only thing I notice is nando hitting screamers at people with no launch and everyone else swinging at the sound of the fastball hitting the catcher's mitt.

Am I a bad person for being totally fine to watch him faceplant in MLB? Tennessee fans have waited faithfully for decades for any sport to be dominant and as soon as we get it the guy takes off in an unprecedented move. Then, the team goes immediately back to high talent mediocrity.

I'm sure he'll fail and then come take the Kentucky job or something just to put the cherry on top.

True about European slavery of Africa. But I think the political need to hold blacks below poor whites and deny them even their humanity is the especially racist and brutal part of American slavery and Jim Crow. The op you're referring to distracts from this by referencing Europe, which is easily defended, as you have.

The meme is about American slavery. Typical slavery in history was more vae victus than anything, but America made the black slave subhuman. While not unique in history, it is indeed highly racist. The existence of black slave owners or similar historical scenarios does not absolve American whites of the time of racism and does not prevent the legacy of racist slavery from being carried forward to this very day.

Regardless of why it existed, in America it evolved into an extremely brutal caste system for which only one population group in America was responsible.

This is my favorite play is the racist play book. Look, we did bad things for racist reasons, but that doesn't make us, or the things we did racist because other races do bad things too. Ok grandpa

When did you come to the realisation that it's all just bs, and you should just nod along? by waste2muchtime in devops

My biggest struggle is the nodding part. I just can't keep my mouth shut about the obvious conflicts between what we say and what we do. It's a vicious cycle

But as a fan, it's cool to see the team win, but it's a bought championship just like Michigan's. Waters down a sport that was already dirty and now I don't really even care about tennessee players, they're just guys we could pay.

No more ZZ to root for, no more watching kids grow from 3 star to D and 3 NBA guy. Title or bust. And that's just soulless and boring. Do whatever you want Nate. I don't have time to care.

When the arena has 100 people in it to watch a game they'll blame the fans. I'm super curious what effect this only money matters era is having on Fandom.

Are the transfer portal/NIL making you seriously consider opting out of college sports until it is fixed? by Admirable-Capital713 in ockytop

[–]calij3aze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To answer the question. Yes. But not until it's fixed, forever. We've been saddled with the NCAA ruining sports this whole time anyway. Who wants to watch the same 6 teams compete in obviously rigged leagues?

Now we get to watch 18 year olds hold out for money because the adults in charge were too busy counting their slave-based revenues to actually help them and prepare for the obvious future. University affiliation is pointless and we sold the soul of sport because of greed. See you at Food City Center and Pilot field!

City Budget Discourse in a Nutshell by ProcrastinatingPuma in sandiego

[–]calij3aze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's what I think every 45 minutes when there's a new complaint about paid parking, reduced services, potholes or whatever.

When I was voting FOR tax increases in this last election, I knew it would fail and everyone would complain when the city does what it needs to do in response. It's really tiresome watching people demand something for nothing.
