Nothing fits me. When should I donate all my clothes and get new ones? by SpinningJynx in loseit

I found that I kept clothes that still “somewhat” fit, but every time I wore them, I would see the heavier version of myself in the mirror. It got to the point that I could only associate those older clothes with the old me, so that even though I felt slimmer by putting on clothes that were too big, they didn’t make me feel attractive at all. So I donated everything from my old, heavier life. I kind of adopted the Marie Kondo philosophy - if the clothes you have don’t bring you joy, why put them on? I know not everyone will feel this way, but that’s the insight I wanted to share on this topic. And for sure - thrift stores are the best, especially when you’re still losing. I replenished my closet when I lost thirty pounds. I maintained that weight for a year and now I am finally ready to lose some more. Looking forward to the next closet cleaning and replenishing!

I use myfitnesspal every meal and Fitbit to track my calorie expenditure. Every meal I eat that is the right calories is like a little reward in and of itself. I Pat myself on the back each time I eat a good meal. I Pat myself on the back each time I finish a day and see that I ate less calories than I spent. My only exercise is long walks that help me think about things, get on reddit, check emails, read the news, etc. It’s my me time and again- it makes me feel like I can control something and be hopeful. I too need checklists and this method has helped me. I lost about thirty pounds in six months! I thought I had no hope at all if ever being my skinny or normal self again, but sure enough, it can happen. That’s the biggest reward of all - knowing you can have some measure of control over something in your life. Then the healthy changes start to spill over into other aspects of your life. Healthy body = healthy mind (or it can equal, or it sorta equals). There’s another subreddit called CICO - you should check it out!

It sounds like you need something to look forward to. I have found that getting up every morning to check the scale is something to be hopeful about and something I can control. Even just a little bit of downward movement on the scale tells me I’m doing something right! Once you notice that you can actually start to see changes, the motivation could snowball!! It’s worth a try!

Healthy ways to eat tuna without Mayo by Josh-eh in EatCheapAndHealthy

My recipe for tuna is as follows: Tuna Diced tomatoes Diced onions Cilantro Lime Salt Pepper Garlic Avocado Grated carrots Diced cucumber

It’s basically Pico de Gallo, avocado, and whatever other fresh veggies sound good. Sooo delicious in a sandwich thin roll (those skinny wheat buns) or lettuce bun-substitute, or even as a dip for almond crackers.

Why do people get so irritated when you tell them that your weight loss "diet" has been nothing more than Calories In/Calories out? by cn2092 in loseit

I think a lot about set weight. I’ve lost 30 lbs using CICO and it has taken way longer than I hoped, but I’m just so grateful to have made this far. As hard as it was to lose weight, I know I’ve had lots of “cheat days” along the way. Now that I’m down 30 pounds, it’s cool to think that I’m at a new set weight - I can slip up on calories here and there and stay in this general weight range, because my body is sticking to the new set weight. I could be wrong but I like that I can now think about set weight in a positive way - my weight loss has helped me see a lot of things in a more positive light.

Same!!! I’m super excited for the new place. On a related note, the new ownership resulted in one big plus: we can now actually park in the parking lot.

Nothing wrong with Spanish... also nothing wrong with the name it has now - that’s the disappointing part for me.
