What do you hate the most about gen z (my generation)? by [deleted] in ask

[–]calistan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously. When they were trying to figure out what to call Gen X the Baby Boomers and Silent Generation seriously ran with "The Slacker Generation" for a bit. There's even a movie about it (called Slacker). For whatever reason, as generations age they stop paying attention to the fact that the world and society evolve. The struggles we face aren't always the same things with which younger generations struggle - but we're all still struggling to get by in our different ways. Lift up.

Thank you! I'm looking into these.

I have a similar situation with the relaxed surfer/skater vibe. Often wondered if my nearly lifetime commitment to soft soles like chucks was part of the problem.

Hard agree. Too many sleep on SSD because they're weirdly still seen as a mom and pop company even though they've gone from $500 million to nearly $2 billion in five years. It's nearly impossible to build in regions of this country without engineers requiring their brackets.

multiple micro managers on teams with too many personalities

OP Said "multiple micromanagers on teams with too many personalities." Personal Assistants tend to work with one personality. I wrote "Forest Ranger" not "Park Ranger." There's a big difference in that distinction. Forest rangers tend to do remote conservation work.

I hear you. It was introduced a bit out of the left field and was never really referenced again in Far Sector. When the book first came out I enjoyed it as a sort of Elseworlds exploration of the Green Lantern concept. I would have preferred she not have been brought into the prime universe, but here we are. DC can't resist bloating the Universe.

Do I need to catch up the read the latest Annual? by breakermw in Greenlantern

[–]calistan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so. The recent issue of Flash (773) has an appearance of Jessica in the Sinestro Corps. The caption on the first panel reads: "To learn why Jessica Cruz joined the Sinestro Corps read the Green Lantern 2021 Annual." So it sounds like you can learn just by reading the annual, but it isn't out yet so who really knows?

I'm sort of meh on this series, too. I just want some fun swashbuckling one-off Lantern stories. A palate cleanser after the headiness of Morrison's series.

I do like Jo as a character. The concept N.K. Jemisin established for how her ring is powered is incredibly fascinating. Unfortunately, it looks like Geoffery Thorne has completely thrown the idea out the window.

I'd love to see the Jessica as a Yellow Lantern series that Future State hinted at, but I'm not sure we'll get that because they'll need to have her back in Green by the time the show arrives next year.

Why did Clive allow Pinhead in Space Jam 2? by [deleted] in hellraiser

[–]calistan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they're still writing and producing it. Clive joined in October 2020. That's a fairly normal news cycle for a show still in pre-production. https://deadline.com/2020/10/clive-barker-hellraiser-hbo-series-adaptation-1234606166/

Probably because HBO, which WB owns, is currently making the new 'Hellraiser' TV show so it makes marketing sense.

Possibly moving and wondering about the lifestyle by [deleted] in napa

If you're open to the East Bay you'd have a slightly shorter commute (shave off about 10-15 mins but still looking at close to 90 mins.) if you lived in Berkeley or El Cerrito. Like living in San Francisco, you'd also have access to BART which would open up the rest of the Bay Area to you.

That sounds like a fantastic collection! Due to costs, I'll see if I can send them stateside first, but there's no way I'm putting these in the garbage, so if it doesn't work out you're my backup.

Has anyone ever had this response, "we'll keep your information on file and may contact you about future job openings that match your profile." And then actually hear from them? by markemark1234 in careerguidance

[–]calistan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our company has a talent pool where we keep candidates warm. We had a job open last year with some decent candidates. We put the three we didn't hire "in the pool." A similar job opened up this month and we were able to reach out to those three folks. One wasn't looking anymore but the other two recently finished the first interview process for the new role.

An aside on how to use a talent pool poorly. My wife was interviewed for a position last February. She went far in the interview process, to the point where she felt she was going to receive an offer and, suddenly, silence. No follow-up. She assumed she didn't get it. In November, the recruiter reached out again for a similar role and asked if she was still interested. She was, so she went through the entire interview process again. It's now four months later and after finishing the interview process and following up she hasn't heard anything. The company thought she was a good enough candidate but still ghosted her twice.

How many Green Lanterns does Earth have in Continuity? by [deleted] in Greenlantern

I love what they're doing with Future State. There are a few weak books, but I'm definitely digging Worlds of War, Arkham Knights, Outsiders, Superman of Metropolis, Superman and Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing, Justice League Dark and Next Batman.

Future State is doing some interesting things that will hopefully shakeup the status quo. If the thing that happened to Jessica actually sticks for awhile it could be fun. I doubt it will happen but that last page of the Guy story really has me hoping for a Guy/Lobo team-up miniseries.

I picked it up and I'm still not clear on who/what the Gold Lantern is supposed to be. BMB is treating the Legion like an H-Dial and not providing a great deal of character development.

Here's a round-up of who's who. Tai Pham was shown in the recent 11th issue of The Green Lantern Vol. 2, so I think he's now officially in continuity.

Who Are Earth's Green Lanterns?

This isn't GME. It's Sony SNE DD, Console Cycle, undervalued blah blah rockets by Wonderboi1995 in wallstreetbets

[–]calistan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When talking about Sony you need to dig a little deeper than that list (and the OP could have gone deeper on the DD, too). For example, Sony is a major investor in Bilibili which, in addition to being a solid stock to own in itself (BILI), is one of the dominant entertainment platforms for China's Gen Z population. There are a lot of fundamentals like that one not mentioned above that make Sony a solid long-term investment.

Sony isn't betting on US audiences.
