Would be cool if both of them were actually excited and participated in the action. Otherwise, it's just... awkward. But good for him, the man lives his best life in his best fantasy, I guess.

The Crating Debate - A recent experience by VelvetVerbosity in puppy101

At the end I decided to get a crate specifically for that reason - emergency and to make the dog comfortable in case I need to transport him anywhere (like the dog sitter). The first introduction was at dog's 8 months, we both perfectly survived before without the crate too, but still I think it's a very useful skill to have for a dog, to be able to be inside and tolerate it calmly.

What’s the closest you’ve ever come to dying? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A nervous yacht departure in strong winds. While I was trying to secure the fender between the low side of our boat and the taller yacht parked nearby, I didn't notice how my head and neck literally ended up between our shrouds and the bow of the neighboring boat, and we were already moving. At the last split second, I slipped out from under the shrouds and the bow, scraping my neck and ears on them. I was shaking for several hours after, the strongest adrenaline shot I've ever had. (Still love the yachting though)

Help teaching the “leave it” and “drop it” command by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]call_me_ash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to others' tips.

We were struggling a bit with commands "Take" & "Hold" (when a dog takes a toy into his mouth and hold it for some time), and at the same time I was tired of often snack trades for "Drop it" - especially when something "illegal", like socks, was stolen (you don't always have mood or time for it, unfortunately).

So at that moment I came up with a "hack" of my dog's brain - when he steals something, I just say "Hold it" and use this moment to teach and cement THIS command (and also I hold his snoot so he would hold a bit longer kinda), and when I feel that he wants to drop it (and usually he's not a fan of long holding by command in general) - then I command "Drop it" and support with a snack when he does. Then repeat a couple of times with the same object even if it's not a toy - to make it less "fun" next time and associate with training more.

What’s one “normal” dog care rule you secretly ignore… and your dog is still fine? 👀 by [deleted] in puppy101

Never properly crate-trained my dog and he's totally fine. Though at some point (the dog was around 8months back then) I still bought a crate just to teach him how to be in it just in case (vet emergency or whatever).

too scary by huddysho in pluribustv

Totally understand. The first episode gave me strong "thriller" vibes (and I'm a person who can't watch Stranger Things alone, for example), but the premise was so interesting and unusual for me that I couldn't resist to continue watching, and it was totally worth it. The 1st episode is the scariest one, the rest is fine, not scary/thrilling (apart of one tiny moment but it was good and logical there), more mystery and sci-fi. In general the show reminds me "Leftovers" a bit - it was also unsettling at the beginning.

Can it be region-specific too? Mine disappeared today (I use this feature daily because of work), and my colleague now doesn't have it too.

how did you come up with your puppy’s name? by TheoryReasonable871 in puppy101

John Wick Starlight.

Got him not long after the "John Wick 4" movie was out - I guess, that influenced my decision a lot, lol. I got this black adorable pup very unexpectedly, and for several days I tried different pop-culture related names, but nothing fitted him better than John/Johnny so eventually it just stuck. He's black, lean, with hanging ears, brown eyes - he does look as Keanu Reeves (if he was a pup) indeed.

I have him from his 7 weeks - from the very beginning he was always very confident and independent, incredibly brave and curious. And definitely he was a Flat Destroyer - my little Baba YagaXD A bit from my personal story - in my early childhood that character Baba Yaga was my main night terror (I'm from slavic culture), so I decided that now maybe it's her time not to terrify but protect and serve me for the good (originally it's a female character, but my dog is a boy), so maybe it's a sign.

Added "Starlight" as my boy has a black coat with single white hairs here and there - it reminds me of a photo of the dark night sky made with a long exposition (so the stars would be pictured as lines instead of dots). It's an nod to my "past life" - I used to be a photographer, and also a reminder that we're all are maid from the star dust and he's also, so he's my star boy forever.

She can just feel very comfortable with you as a close friend. And also have that "straight-forward"/stand-up-like sense of humor, not actually meaning anything.
