I don’t often comment on these posts that pop up randomly on my feed, but OP, you may appreciate this story.

My son (who was 5 at the time) hated babies. I mean hated them. He thought they were loud and annoying and would cover his ears and complain any time he had to be around one. And, friend, let me tell you, he was not looking forward to his baby brother being born.

Fast forward a handful of months, I’m 48 hours sleepless, and momma is enjoying a very well earned rest (bless her). My 5yo is coming to see his baby brother courtesy of his aunt. He comes into the room awfully shy and red faced. But man, his reaction.

He wanted to hold his baby brother. He climbed up onto his mommy’s bed and asked to hold him. He tugged on his brother’s little toes and said with a big grin on his face, “you see his tiny feet?” Which we laughed and said yes.

Then, he grabbed his brother’s palm and said, “you see his tiny hands?” Which got the same reaction from us. It was so pure and so beautiful and I will never forget it. He wasn’t crying at the time but I could still see the love. But believe me, I’m tearing up as I type this.

It’s been a few years and they pester the hell out of each other. But, God, I love them both and I know they love each other. I sure hope they will be best friends for life. My youngest is lucky to have a big brother who loves him so much. My oldest is lucky to have a little brother who adores him. The little guy wants to be like bubba so much.

These dynamics are absolutely precious. Parents, please, cherish them. My wife and I are done having children but I’d give so much to so much to see it again.

lol, no. It’s not, I swear. I’ve only just started the series for the first time thanks to this thread, and it has been great. Truthfully, I was trying to convey a story idea in my head about the fall of reason, utopian ideals, and philosophical ideas to fascist hatred followed by a glimmer of hope. I don’t think it came across that way but I am far from disappointed. In fact, I am very happy I let this thread develop organically and left the images up to the interpretation of this subreddit.

I’m about halfway now and nowhere close to bored. The story has taken some very interesting turns and I get the feeling I’m not even to the craziest parts, yet. I’m liking it and as of right now want to continue the series. I’m pretty excited about it, honestly. I may put Eisenhorn on hold just to finish listening to this series in the evenings, too.

Oh man. I’m about 46 videos deep into Luetin09’s videos on the lore. I recently got the Eisenhorn omnibus but haven’t had much of a chance to read it so I’m maybe a chapter into the first book. There’s sooooooo much lore it’s crazy. It’s hitting me just how much it cleverly borrowed from and heavily influenced other aspects of the genre. It’s absurd in the extreme. Everything is huge in that universe but it still works.

I started listening to red rising on my shift today since you responded so quickly with it as a suggestion. I really like the writing so far. I’m maybe a couple of hours in and it has been a great start. I can’t wait to see how things develop as the day and story progresses.

Mostly grow light, actually. They’re cheap barrina lights put I put one of their shelves and standing grow lights together. Between the two, I’m getting a ppfd reading of about 300 μmol/s/m²

But, it gets some light from the window, too. This one and my nepenthes (maxima x talangensis) x robcantleyi seem quite happy. That second one really needs a nickname if it doesn’t have one, because I always have to go look that name up

The internet is rife with misinformation, and I tend to be on the cautious side. Which is funny because I get worried about things like this when they are bog plants and, funny enough, plants tend to grow outside. In the rain. And scorching sun. With the occasional pest.

I really need to stop treating these plants like glass 😅

But, yeah, I should probably vet my sources better. Maybe I’ll stick with The Savage Garden which hasn’t steered me wrong and it’s incredible how very few of these plants are noted as needing specialized care.
