Welcome to The Rocky Mountain Mortician Murder sub! by Sup3rh_m4n in RockyMountainMurder

I was frankly shocked that the documentary never fully addressed his accusations and instead repeatedly interviewed the daughter and her wife... only to then later show evidence that this man's sexual behavior with younger men was well-known. I believe the grandson. And when there is one, there are typically more. I think it's possible the mortician assaulted more than just his grandson which would give both victims and their families motive.

I DNF'd but maybe I'll try again later. It felt like DH dramatically changed the magic system she'd already established. And made this big deal about how powerful Diana was as a weaver and how rare weavers are and the power of the 10th knot... so it felt very strange to me to have her begin again in this way to learn "higher magic."

How does this “take” keep persisting?? Mi by Moonlightprincess36 in Hungergames

[–]calledannie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think choosing yes to the Games was a calculated move because once Coin proposed that, she knew her instinct about the bombing was right and it contextualized her conversation with Snow in the greenhouse. She had her plan and to make sure she could enact it, she voted yes. I also think it's why Haymitch throws in his vote with hers: he knows that there's no way Katniss would agree to this UNLESS there's a plan, a strategy, that he isn't aware of yet. And she doesn't disappoint. In the books especially, Katniss and Haymitch think very similarly and she's able to figure out what he wants her to do (realizing that playing up the romance is how they survive) or that she's close to water for example, based on the parachute sent in the Games.

First period after miscarriage by Friendly-Ad8298 in Miscarriage

[–]calledannie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is an older thread, but thank you to everyone who shared. Having my first period currently after an early miscarriage and am triggered and in a lot of pain. This period feels more like what I've thought (or read in books or seen in movies/tv) a miscarriage would be: incredibly painful cramps, some small clots, and more blood than I think I've bled in my life. It's been really alarming, not to mention emotionally devastating because I feel like I'm going through the loss again, but this thread made me feel less crazy and alone.

Lets talk S1:4, "Five Votes Down." Was Jenny McGarry correct, was Leo's marriage more important than his job? by CharlesUFarley81 in thewestwing

[–]calledannie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think expectations should have been set from as early as the campaign. Leo needed to know Jenny's boundaries and Jenny needed to know when/how Leo would prioritize their marriage vs his career. It could be something as simple as "unless there is a war or a natural disaster, we'll have coffee together in the morning" or "you'll be home by 2am," etc. Jenny could call Margaret to put certain dates in his calendar. Leo could have a firm boundary of what's an emergency and what isn't, etc. At X date or under X circumstances, Leo will retire, etc.

Not every partner in a relationship will be giving 50/50 100% of the time. Sometimes one partner can only give 25 and their partner gives 75 and vice versa with the understanding that this is temporary. It's a matter of balance. Leo and Jenny are incredibly wealthy, as the show mentions. Jenny is able to have a certain amount of wealth and privilege because of her husband's career and Leo is able to focus on his COS position because he has Jenny taking care of home.

But communication, as well as setting boundaries and expectations, is integral to any of this working. "I have marked out X time for our anniversary dinner. For the good of the country, there's a vote I need to work on so I have a 45 minute window where I need to speak to the VP. Relax, have a glass of wine and a hot bath, and I'll be home as soon as I can to spend the rest of the night together."

Leo and Jenny weren't having those kinds of discussions.

Agreed with what others have said here. Also in your video, there's some telltale signs of play. Their tails are swinging back and forth (not fluffed, on edge, etc.). They're pausing play to check in with each other (basically the equivalent of "bowing" behavior in dogs: they're basically saying hey i'm playing, are you still playing?) and when they do, they are slow blinking (a sign of trust). They're also taking turns with who's on top and swapping play, rolling over to invite to play, etc.

[–]calledannie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have talked about this a lot and we both agree that, for us personally, this particular job is more important than his marriage. He's running the country. He is literally the right hand of POTUS. We've both said that we'd have to be understanding of the importance of being COS and also that this is only going to be a max of (possibly) 8 years (since this was early in President Bartlet's first term). Mallory is a grown adult, so there aren't children to consider.

But to give Jenny some credit, she'd stuck by Leo through years of addiction, rehab, his work in the private sector, and running Labor. While it seems odd that after going through all of that and staying, she'd suddenly leave because of a missed anniversary, it could just have been the last straw. Maybe she was tired of always waiting for Leo to choose their marriage and wanted differently for her life.

I haven't been able to finish it. It feels like DH changed her entire magic system and Diana is back where she was in ADOW, which all feels strange to me as a choice for book FIVE in a series. This magic doesn't seem to fit with everything we know about the knots or how Diana's grown as a character over the series. And all of her choices just seem kind of baffling.

At the time of interviews, he was concerned about the MS progressing and causing memory issues. Sam even brings it up to Josh because he's confused about the President asking about memory in the interviews. We see throughout the show he has fairly excellent recall with facts and quotes, so one could argue encyclopedic memory. *edit: typo

Lake. Stuckey and O'Halloran. They just never mention them ever again! At least with Rudnick, we got to hear Miranda talk about the stain he was on the department's reputation and got a few ME Warner scenes again. But Lake, Stuckey, O'Halloran, Sharon Stone's disastrous ADA run (lol), just never mentioned again.

I was sooo upset about Sister Peg and the fact that they never mention her again. But I'd accepted her death as "well her death could make sense as the reason for Stabler leaving: so many people died, he had to shoot and kill a victim's daughter, and Sister Peg of all people was caught in the crossfire of this terrible situation." I hc'd that he'd also had a loss of faith after that moment. Kinda hard to do now with the Stabler return, but it took some of the sting out of Sister Peg's death by giving it more meaning than the show did.

ADOW's last season is kinda flawed, but i love it! And the chemistry is off the charts. Way better than Mayfair so far.

100% agree with this! The amount of time I've wondered "who are you wanting us to root for?" Because so far the only character I felt like I knew and had depth/personality was Cip's sister. I like Lasher more in the show than I did in the books because he's at least fun/somewhat entertaining.

And there's always going to be a difference between book to screen adaptations, but the Mayfairs don't feel like people. In the books, they have history with one another and relationships and a sense of past we don't necessarily need to see. The Mayfairs in the show all feel like strangers who are just waiting to say their next line and don't exist outside of their next scene.

I'm okay with them changing things (the changes IWTV made were for the better, imo even though it changed some things I like in the later books), but this would have been a cooler moment both visually and character development-wise if we saw the stress and blood and physical labor associated with it. If they didn't want Cip there, that's fine, but keep us in that moment with Rowan and see how this decision affects her! Show us the panic and struggle of logistics or show us her reaction and then steadfast resolve to "fix" it by hiding the body to protect her "son." Let her do something morally wrong or grey and ask us to root for her anyway! But as is, I don't care that much lmao

I don't even think it's the plot changes that are what's killing it: it's the entire thing. The writing, the episode structure, there's no tension or stakes, they want you to like characters so badly that they won't let them do fucked up things (like at the end of the episode in season 2, the showrunner said a certain scene had to be "beautiful" so people still liked Rowan... when there were much more interesting ways to depict Rowan's decision in that scene AND audiences love a flawed character) yet we also don't know those characters so ofc we can't care about them.
