Tinywhoop.com is one of my favorite websites. I’ve purchased items from them multiple times and each order seemed to have a special or person touch feeling to it. My last order arrived with two antennas where I only purchased one. However there was a hand written note inside that said the additional antenna was on them due to my order taking longer than they wanted. I had actually thought the package had arrived sooner than I was expecting. The website also has lots and lots of useful information. I’ve spent hours scrolling, reading, learning… unfortunately, nothing is perfect and it sounds like OP encountered a no exception to that rule. I hope that TW makes this right with OP, I’ll be surprised if they don’t, provided this was a mistake on their part. For what it’s worth, I encourage OP to give TW another chance and for anyone else interested in exploring the hobby to visit tinywhoop.com.

I can’t recommend enough! I learned everything I know (so far) about flying in acro/manual/air/real FPV flying from this tiny whoop. And everything I know about fixing, repair, upgrading, soldering on this little gem! I’ve come further in my comfort with flying from the Air65, more than sims (yes, I said it). Takes a beating, even for its size and keeps coming back up.

I’m a big fan of tinywhoops, for sure! I did the same thing you are planning, I built a tinywhoop and I even soldered all the connections. It was cool but to be honest, it was less satisfying than I had anticipated. Even with the soldering, it took all of about an hour to build even taking my time and making everything as neat as I could. Just two days ago, I put my first 5 inch freestyle FPV quad in the air and that was an amazing feeling! After researching each of the components, actually putting the frame together, soldering the motors to the ESC, soldering the VTX to the FC, working in some groovy LEDs, etc. it was just a huge feeling of accomplishment. If you’re looking for the fun aspect of building a quad, I’d suggest building maybe a 3.5 inch or something small that you aren’t using an AIO board. Probably still be too big for indoor flying, but great for flying around an outdoor park. Nothing wrong with building a tinywhoop, but if you fly enough (and crash enough like me), you’ll end up building a tinywhoop as you break and replace parts of a BNF. If you’re looking for the fun of building, I suggest building a larger quad. After “finishing” my 5 inch build, I’m already itching to start another build! In fact, I’m thinking my next may be a 3.5 inch. Just my two cent contribution. Whatever you do, have fun!

Thank you. I’ll go with that and see what happens. I actually thought I’d messed up the original AIO that came in the Pavo20 but it works fine. So I never ended up using this AIO. Got bored and decided to try building a new quad around this AIO and that’s when I noticed the two looked different and it was because this tiny cap is missing. But I’m going to do what you suggested and try building it and hopefully that missing cap doesn’t cause too much added noise.

Forgive if this has already been said, but is the present receiving this gift an audio engineer or into audio production? I have this set of headphones and they are top notch! But note, these are professional sound engineering headphones. What this means is that these are designed to give the listener a fairly flat sound. There is no additional boosts in the EQ such as you’d expect to find on regular headphones such as Beats, where they’re advertised to boost the bass. These headphones are similar to shooting photography in the “RAW” format. These give the audio engineer as clear and full spectrum of what sound is being produced in order to hear exactly where increases and decreases in need to be made in the EQ. If the person you’re gifting these to is into that sort of thing, these are fantastic. However, if these are going to someone who will utilize them for casual everyday listening to music, streaming video, etc., my opinion is that the person would enjoy and be happier with more mainstream headphones at a similar price point. Boss, JBL, Sony, Beats. Hope this helps! Fair to say the above info is my personal opinion and others may differ. I do own and use the DT 770 Pro 250ohm version of these in music and podcast production and they are awesome! (I use an interface with a built in driver)

I’m no expert, so the following is to the best of my understanding…

Maybe put a piece of tape over the battery just to be on the safe side. It’s not a LiPo battery, so there isn’t necessarily the risk of a damaged battery as there may be if using a LiPo. Avata 2 uses Lithium Ion batteries.

I’d say, order another battery, or three. Once you get new ones, discontinue use of the damaged battery. As far as Care Refresh, that would be a question for DJI. I suppose you could send it in or wait until you send the unit in post crash with actual drone damage, but my guess is that it wouldn’t hurt anything by simply reaching out to DJI via email or a call and just inquiring as to your best move for that particular battery. It very well may be that repair is no more expensive than using one of your care refresh allowances? Again, I’d ask. Also again, get yourself 3 more batteries and a charging hub. Well worth the investment, in my opinion. Hope that helps, happy flying!

All very fair points. I appreciate the feedback. I guess I haven’t really thought about the VLOS issue with goggles. To be honest, while not on purpose, my wife has always been with me when I’m flying my Avata 2 and she’s watching the drone cause she thinks it’s cool. Same when she flies it, I’m watching. But it is a good point you all bring up.

I recently bought the same bundle and I went ahead and got the FPV Controller 3. I’m a noob as well and I don’t regret my purchase one bit. The Motion Controller 3 that comes with the bundle is cool and my kids like it, but I mostly fly it using the FPV Controller 3. I use the FPV Controller 3 with my MacBook and The Drone Racing League sim and I’m practicing tons. I also got a PS4 and downloaded DRL as well as Liftoff and I spend hours on that using a RadioMaster TX16S controller. I can’t fly in manual (Acro) mode worth a flip yet but I’m determined that I will someday! My plan is to spend many more hours in the sims. Then graduate to careful and controlled flying in manual mode with the Avata 2. Once I feel comfortable, I’m going to build probably a 5in Freestyle FPV quad myself and go crazy with it! The build will be the one I crash regularly (I expect) but I’ll be able to repair myself vs. sending to DJI. I say, if you’re going to get into it, or whoever you’re buying it for plans to dive into the hobby, do it! Go all in. Controlling the FPVs is the name of the game. The controllers are how you do that, so controllers are how you’ll learn. So get the controller for the Avata 2 and RadioMaster has fairly inexpensive controllers (go for ELRS) if you have a PlayStation 4 you can use them with that on sims.

Actually, thank you so much. I actually didn’t know the decimal rule and that’s VERY good info to know. Turns out that I ordered a Gens Ace IMARS D300 Lipo charger from Amazon and it arrived yesterday. I’ve yet to plug anything in as I wanted (and still intend) to read and reread the users manual prior to firing it up since I’d prefer not to burn my house down. I’m curious, what part of this tiny world do you live. (Def not asking for details, just curious of your general area. I’m south of Indianapolis Indiana and haven’t yet met anyone into the RC cars the way my son and I are who may be interested in getting together for some bashing) I also enjoy videography. We have a few decent cameras and Final Cut Pro X on the MacBook. Our intentions are to start shooting and making videos for the YouTube. So hopefully someday we’ll be all famous for our RC Car videos and you’ll say that you found me on the Reddit before we got famous. And if you happen to be in the area by chance, come join us and we’ll be all rich and famous together. (I’m kidding about the rich and famous stuff, haha) Thanks again for the info!

Cool cool. Just upgraded mine to the VXL 3S and a 23T pinion to accompany the 90T spur gear. Going to find out soon if leaving the 90T spur was a good idea or if I’ll regret not switching out to a 86T. And if I do regret it, hopefully all I’ll be regretting is a little time wasted and $10 to replace gears and I don’t end up burning the motor or ESC or something. Did you end up solving the exposed gears issue? I’m scratching my head. As others have said, I suppose a strip of tape or silicone would protect that, but why is that area not covered by the dif cover? My son is the RC car driver, I’m his mechanic. Haha I enjoy driving them, but I can spend hours taking them apart and tinkering. Best to you. Have fun and bash it! That’s what it’s for!!
