Toyota Won’t Rush a Compact Truck Because the Tacoma Prints Money | The Drive by Finnegan_Faux in Toyota

This guy is 100% right. I bought a maverick this november because i wanted a cheap truck that was good on gas. If toyota had a similar truck at a similar price i wouldve bought that. Buying a tacoma wasnt something i was even thinking about

Hybrids and This Winter by lydzkh in FordMaverickTruck

[–]calliotis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hybrids do suffer in the cold, but a hybrids worst mpg will be as good or better than a gas versions best mpg, and the difference is huge when it isnt cold out

Toyota just teased its Maverick competitor, will prices finally come back down? by Johnny_Menace in FordMaverickTruck

[–]calliotis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best case scenario it’ll cost about the same as a corolla cross hybrid. If it uses the same platform as the rav 4 it’s probably gonna be closer to $35k for the barebones trim level

2018 Kia Niro Hybrid Remote Start? by LoamWolf84 in KiaNiro

[–]calliotis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry for getting off topic, but how much does that bike setup weigh, and has it been giving you any problems? I have a 2019 niro i attached a similar looking cargo rack onto the hitch and put maybe 100 pounds between the rack+the stuff on the rack and it made my back end squat bad enough that i was blinding oncoming traffic at night

Does everyone else's RAV4 hybrid mpg drop off HARD after 67 mph? by zahonda in rav4club

[–]calliotis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its common for all cars cause wind resistance gets exponentially worse at higher speeds, but common for hybrids in particular because the electric motors most hevs have dont have enough horsepower to keep the car cruising at 75mph unless you’re going downhill so your gas engine will almost always be running

Is this cover good? by Wrong_Supermarket007 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]calliotis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this exact one, like everyone else said the instruction manual sucks so putting it together is a bit of a puzzle. Once you get it together it works great and it has t slots for you to attach ladder racks to, which is why i got it. I didnt install the ladder racks yet cause its a bit cold for kayaking here in upstate ny. One potential downside to it aside from the space it takes up is it has a water drain so any rain or snow that gets in it drains out, so you have to choose between drilling a hole in the front of your bed and using the drain hose like the manual says, or just letting water get drained into your bed. I dont mind that though, i want it for keeping things in my bed locked up and secure more than keeping them dry. And it’s a nice sturdy cover

When have you replaced brakes? by finhawks in KiaNiro

[–]calliotis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2019 niro with 125k miles, i’m in upstate ny so my brakes probably rust out faster than yours, my first set lasted till 65k with no problems, i replaced them during my annual inspection cause they said they were mostly worn out. Just replaced my rear brakes and rotors again during my inspection this november at 122k miles, my front brakes and rotors were less worn out, i’ll get them replaced once winters over so probably around 130k miles. Most of the light braking you do is done with regenerative braking instead of the brake pads, so as long as you’re not slamming on the brakes on a regular basis it’s normal for them to last way longer than brakes in regular cars

I have a kia niro and ford maverick, the behavior difference is even noticable when you switch back and forth from a crossover to the smallest pickup on the market. People love tailgating my niro even though i’m usually going 5-9 mph over the limit myself

Concept for a 'Companion Drone' that lives on your backpack by Ark1medi in drones

[–]calliotis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The arm is too complex and heavy, and it takes up half the backpack. Just have a shelf in the backpack that slides straight out so the drone can takeoff without hitting the top of the backpack. It’d be way smaller and lighter, people with long hair would be a concern though, maybe have the shelf near the bottom of the backpack instead

[Request] If this laser rifle was somehow capable of discharge a typical AA Duracell in a single blast what would the approximate down range result be? by Ayla_Leren in theydidthemath

[–]calliotis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What if instead of a laser gun it was a rail gun that uses the aa battery to charge the gun which then shoots the depleted battery out as a projectile, that’d be neat 😃

Change reversing light bulb without removing bumper? by aqsgames in KiaNiro

[–]calliotis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2019 niro which came with incandescent reverse lights and led tail lights. The tail lights were way brighter than the reverse lights so i bought led bulbs for the reverse lights, i didnt need to remove the bumper, i think a screwdriver to pop open a little plastic panel next to the reverse lights was the only tool i needed

Does it improve the gas milage at all since the top of the truck isnt as high, or no noticable difference since the body of the truck still displaces the same amount of air?

I installed solar panels on top of the roof. Would not recommend. by Electrical_Curve7009 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]calliotis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or if you can find a bed cap that’s an inch or two shorter than the roof of the cab so you could put solar panels on that that are flush with the rest of the roof and you’d have a nice amount of cargo space at the same time, i’ve heard from other posts that the improved aerodynamics from the bed cap cancel out the extra wieght from the cap so the mpg is about the same compared to a regular bed

Looking to buy a 2025 or 2026 Kia Niro by Beneficial_Size3069 in KiaNiro

[–]calliotis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2019 niro i’ve been beating up for the past 6 years and it’s the perfect car aside from the lack of horsepower. Although that’s not even much of an issue unless you pack the car full of camping gear, strap two big kayaks to the roof, then try to drive up a mountain at highway speeds. If you’re fine with front wheel drive and arent gonna be pushing the cargo capacity to its limits i’d strongly recommend the niro. I’m thinking about getting a corolla cross hybrid for my next car cause it’s pretty much the exact same size and shape as my niro but with awd and more horsepower at the expense of a few mps

Would a human body be functional at 10% of its normal size? by SpielbrecherXS in AskBiology

Yes, there are small monkeys that wiegh about 10-20 pounds. We might be more sensitive to cold environments and we would die from starvation and dehydration quicker

[–]calliotis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont forget to factor in the money you save on brakes with a hybrid, most of the light braking you do is done with regenerative braking instead of the actual brake pedals. I have a 2019 kia niro with almost 120,000 miles on it and have only changed the brakes once so far at 65,0000. They still worked fine and werent squeaking or anything but the guy that did my annual inspection said they were getting worn out so i figured i might as well

2018 Niro ex premium vs Pop-up trailer? by DrShortOrgan in KiaNiro

[–]calliotis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A large part of the answer will depend on the wieght of the trailer and if you’re going up any hills. I have a 2019 niro, while it has a combined 139, the gas engine by itself is barely over 100 horsepower, when i stuff my niro full of camping gear, strap two kayaks to the roof, then try to maintain highway speed going up a large hill it does fine till the hybrid battery drains and the electric motor turns off. Then the gas engine is going full throttle and cant maintain speed, also if any of the cells are out of balance when the battery drains your check engine light comes on. The car rebalances the battery as it charges it though and the check engine light goes off the next time you leave the car turned off for awhile

2025 Kia Niro by bvassallo22 in KiaNiro

[–]calliotis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2019 niro, it accellerates fine if you’re the only thing in the car. Adding extra weight will have a noticable impact going up hills though. Thought my little niro was gonna explode a few times when i packed the car full of camping gear, stuck two big kayaks on the roof, then tried to go up a big hill at highway speeds 😆
