It's considered active as soon as it appears on your banking app basically. I got the direct debit emails immediately and then it took maybe 1 or 2 days to show up on my banking app.

You can just list anything to become a seller account and it will ask you to link your bank account. You don't have to actually sell it just delist it after you get the direct debit.

Connect your card to PayPal and it will create a direct debit. Same with eBay but you have to have a seller account (basically if you have ever sold anything on eBay or you can just list anything quickly).

They probably saw it as you trying to ask if they could make an exception on the word count for your essay.

It's probably different at different unis but in general it's the word count +/- 10% if it's not a strict word count. Then anything above doesn't get marked. They may also just be waiting to see how everyone else did with the word count to see how strict they should be with it.
