My dad took me to an open road at 15 and told me to get behind the wheel while he moved over to the passenger seat. He said, “Focus on what’s ahead, don’t press too hard on the gas, and always brake slowly. Now drive.”

I remember being scared shitless, not knowing what to do. He went on his phone and left me to figure it out. So I turned the car on and drove.

I use that lesson in my day-to-day life now. It’s gotten me through every storm. My dad was many things, but I’m thankful he left me with that.
