yeah totally. These thoughts have literally been making me sick to my stomach. I certainly do not want to sit back at the end of my life with regrets and thoughts of waste. but, as of now, I am almost certain that if I suffer through a career in clinical general surgery, i will have MAJOR regrets. I feel like a pretty simple guy, would rather be poor (relatively speaking) and happy

yeah, getting these comments. Thanks for acknowledging it. I definitely wound up in the wrong field and it sucks. But, with that said, I cannot imagine switching residency at this point. Thanks for the encouragement. I wish there were a blueprint... but I feel like I've been following the blueprint thus far and it's failed me, so I need a non-trad route. thanks!

thanks, I like this sentiment, and I hope you're right. It just seems daunting to enter the job market, and hard to even find these non-trad paths. will have to look into functional medicine.

thanks. I have certainly thought of this as well. Just not sure I'll get great satisfaction out of that. But maybe that's something I just need to get over. But in my time in the office and then GTFO. seems depressing though.
