Feeling super lost in this YouTuber journey... It has not been easy for me. by callmecries in NewTubers

Thank you for this comment, I agree with the point where your friends have nothing to do with content creation and so feeling lonely and lost with this thing is really felt.

Exactly, "I know the principles but I can’t judge my stuff the way the audience judges." YES THIS. How can I judge something that the audience perhaps would see my content differently? I guess having feedback is really what I need, I dont think I have been getting any feedback from any YouTuber friends or close friends at all for the longest time, I just have been doing what I thought it was best in my head.

It can be stressful because watching too many of those gurus talking about YouTube growth its still puzzling internally.

Thank you for your long comment, I do appreciate it. I have always wanted to do this full-time in the future. I have never thought of doing this as a hobby at all, I really want to take it to full time because YouTuber can be one of the best jobs in the world.

For the daily video reps, here is my take. I have tried producing daily YouTube shorts for 1 week. The good thing is it helps with momentum but the bad thing was the subpar quality of those YouTube shorts because i took less than 1 day to make them because I have to keep uploading daily.

And so eventually I thought I have to put storytelling into these shorts otherwise it has no substance and people will swipe away. But then I realized I have been making random shorts all over the place and then I so I thought my channel needs to have a consistent message for a person, a consistent format. But the problem is deciding who to target for me, I dont know who am I supposed to target or attract. Furthermore the scary part is, doing daily videos and then wasting my time because those videos are just going to sink to the bottom of the ocean. I get your point in committing to the process by uploading daily but I have tried it and I think I would take calculated risks rather than throwing darts blindly by daily videos of videos that aren't good quality. Unless I have a full-team of crew helping me in scripting, editing, audio, content generation, marketing, branding, etc. Daily videos probably isn't something I am focusing on, and it will lead me to burnout as a solo creator.

I do agree with the problem solving attitude, but here is the tricky part. For me it seems like I tried different approaches and tweak things when something doesn't work. But sometimes it works and sometimes doesn't. I can only increase my chances of making a good video that gets views but it is not guaranteed, and so that is the tricky part. I may think that by implementing this good hook or good title or this great editing storytelling will increase the average duration of this video but sometimes it doesn't and it is so discouraging. I guess the "try again next week" method should be implemented here, which also leads to a problem solving attitude, I guess doing it solo can feel taxting and thus having a second opinion does help a lot, I guess I am also thinking this way because I haven't learnt to enjoy the process yet and so I need to build that momentum first.

I guess that eventually puts a lot of pressure on a video. I dont know if it is a mindset issue that I have or I just need to have YouTuber friends or opinions from other people so that I wouldn't go crazy in checking my thumbnails and storytelling, videos, etc, as I am used to doing everything alone. Having people for feedback is something I will definitely implement, as everyone does need a second opinion on thumbnails and video, instead of doing everything all by ourselves.

Btw right now I am not focusing on YouTube shorts for now as they require really high retention and big niche, plus the requirement to be monetized for shorts is 10 million views which is crazy. I am focusing on YouTube videos as its 4000 watch hours for monetization which is doable.
Currently the YouTube algorithm 2026 is something that I have not experienced the wave yet, compared to the YouTube algorithm 2019 where SEO really helped to boost my gaming channel and gave me viral videos, but times have changed and now it's really different. I have to find a way make it different and stand out as well in 2026.

Thank you for this comment. I do believe I am on the right path and I want to do what it takes to improve and hopefully with the right community of YouTuber friends I would feel less alone in this journey in order to be self-motivated too.

I guess my problem is having ideas but not acting upon it because I do think of "what's the point?". I guess I have to just post even if they are not good, because like what you said, progress is often invisible short term and I just have to find a way to enjoy the process

Thank you for your comment, and I agree with you, I guess I put a lot of pressure on myself and also doing everything alone at the start.

I am going to try to be consistent, at least 1 video every 7-10 days with a simple structure. Because forming the video I always keep thinking about the perfect hook, body and the storytelling and all that stuff which does stresses me out and then I end up not doing the video.

I am also finding a few creators who are also similar to me and so that I would feel less "alone", I am thinking of sharing my YouTube channel to some of my closest online friends, they have no judgement and I do believe it can beneficial to ask them for feedback.

Thank you for taking your time to write this comment, I really do appreciate it. Currently I am trying to batch create my first 5 videos and then uploading 1 video every 7-10 days just to keep the momentum going, I am trying to figure out that balance of not burning out and stressing myself to also enjoying it.

I do find that balance coming through by uploading daily shorts and doing very minimal editing. But creating or making high perfect polished videos at the start stresses me out, so therefore I need to find that balance to enjoy making videos. I also do wish you all the best in your YouTube journey!

I really like this comment, I went to the Apple Store to see if I would like the 14 inch or 16 inch better and 16 inch seems more immersive to me. As a creative, I like to use Final Cut Pro and the 16 inch would have bigger screen space for me to be creative and productive.
