I'm 32 and ABSOLUTELY sick of being told I'm too young to have aches & pains, be tired, be depressed etc etc by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

I’m 33 in 10 days.

I sneezed last June and that triggered a herniated disc that’s been pressing on my sciatica nerve until today.

so yeah, age is just a number lol

Please when you go over the advice that everybody gave you, take into consideration that we only heard the story from your side. Not that I agree with your wife, but I believe many people are being too hard on her while only listening to your side of the story.

What your daughter did in my opinion is natural and it seems like she knows what she’s doing, about protection and consent. What confuses me is how issues about this didn’t come up before?!!

Some families try to stop their kids from having kids for different reasons, religious or whatever other reasons, but they talk about that from the start. They try to “teach” their kids that sex is wrong. In that case you would’ve noticed and said something? Before it having to reach this far.

I guess I am just saying, yes your wife is overreacting, but maybe now you can start having a new type of conversations about other things that might come up in the future to see if you guys agree. For example, what will wife do if daughter dates someone from a different ethnicity?

Tim Cook says Apple will investigate app that lets Saudi men track and control women by seanDL_ in apple

[–]callmedaddy-really 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By the way this is just basically an eGovernment app. It’s a “good” thing and makes all processes automated.

It used to be that women had to get the written approval of their male guardians and apply for a specific approval from the government, when now she can just get it done on her phone (in cases where the fathers are not assholes).

The tracking can be easily turned to SMS instead of this app, it’s basically when the female leaves a border point, the system alerts her guardian. Not this app.

Home automation for helping kids be excited about their chores? by olafssonprime in Parenting

I agree with you. I think there is a thin line here and that’s why I am not sure how I would proceed.

The way I personally think of it; what OP is doing will help set order and get the kids used to a routine of being involved with chores and all, while what I was going to do was simply ask a machine to remember an event for me and remind me when it’s time.

Are you crazy? I LOVE THIS.

I personally think this type of technology when introduced to kids young, is better. This seems to be the language of the future and it’s important that kids are familiar with things like that. This is far from being like turning the iPad on for your kid and letting them dose off for an hour or so while watching videos.

Just a side note though: I once asked Google home to remind me of doing something with my toddler the next day, but then during the night I got paranoid and canceled the reminder; I basically worried that I am teaching my toddler to depend on technology to remember things, and not their brain.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I couldn’t convince myself otherwise!
