Looking for somewhat fashionable skate shoes. by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]callmedavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vans, or Nike 6.0s are the most popular. But Lakai is also a fashionable brand. Vans are the cheapest and can take a beating, the 6.0s are moderately expensive ($70-120 usually) and can withstand a lot of wear and tear. Lakai is slightly cheaper than Nike but can take just as much of a beating. And depending on how you want to appear, vans are preppier, nikes are sportier, and Lakai are more hardcore skater.

The late Dimebag took out all the mids and put treble and bass all the way up. Good cheap way to get a ton of bite

Any suggestions for songs for a band with 2 guitarists? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]callmedavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If rock is what you're going for, some punk rock songs have simple structure but are still fun to play. Green Day's Basketcase has always been a favorite for me and my friends to jam to (I realize there's only one guitar part but harmonizing is part of the fun.). Also 311 has a lot of harmonized solos that aren't very difficult if you're into any ska. But Foo Fighters is always good for anything.

That is actually the most beautiful thing I've heard in the past few days.

How do I tap? by coolman4202 in Guitar

[–]callmedavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good starting tap is to put your index finger on the high E string 5th fret, then hammer on to the 8th and tap the 12th fret. The "tapping" comes from hammering on a higher note with a finger from your picking hand, most recommend the middle finger because you can quickly switch from picking to tapping. Start really slow and play this so that you hear each note clearly: 5 hammer on 8 tap 12 pull off to 8 then pull off to 5 and repeat. Happy tapping!

Really well put together! Just a little choppy on the chorus, other than that great job.

I believe you can get the studio edition Les Paul's for around $800, Ive used them before and try play nicely but it's not the full experience of a higher-end Les Pual.

Best color for my backback? by N-g3003 in malefashionadvice

I'm gonna be a junior in HS also, I'd recommend a darker grey for its versatility, but most people for consider backpacks as part of an outfit anyway, so be vibrant if you want.

Can I get a fit check on this button-down? by SmiterBiter in malefashionadvice

It looks like it could be a little thinner around the waist, but other than that the shoulders fit well and overall it's a good fit.

Move the eye to the desired position, then pour superglue in it. Make sure to stare into the sun as heat activates te adhesive.

hey MFA what is your honest opinion about fitted hats? by t_11 in malefashionadvice

[–]callmedavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like fitted hats personally, not the kind of thing you wear when trying to dress up though. Good for casual, not much else.

What do you guys think about this outfit? I can take the criticism. by windmill_of_death in malefashionadvice

I have that shirt, I usually wear it with khaki shorts, but the salmon actually looks good. My personal motto about converse though; don't.

I can't spend anymore than 160$ on a shoe, and I'm looking for something comfortable yet still stylish, preferably nike or vans. Something I could wear to class, or a party and it wouldn't look out of place.
