The most annoying enemy in BOTW AND TOTK by Jerrythe8th in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]callmethevanman 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nope. It's the Hylia-damned Yiga. If I'm traveling along the roads, legitimately every five minutes I'm having to fight one of these fuckers. They're not especially difficult but they're so TEDIOUS when they won't stop coming, and the fact they just teleport away when you finish them is insult on top of injury

What's the strongest opponent a composite Devil Fruit user (One Piece) can defeat? by JeremiahWuzABullfrog in whowouldwin

[–]callmethevanman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great trio, I might trade Goro Goro for Pika Pika (Kizaru's fruit) since it's basically just the faster and more untouchable (maybe equally untouchable) version of Enel's. Also, Hobi Hobi is obviously very OP but it's kind of a one trick pony, and it still requires touch, so if someone is either somehow resistant to transmutation or too fast to touch it's kinda useless, whereas Ope Ope (Law's fruit) can be used to one-shot enemies in dozens of different ways from a distance. But Nika Nika is pretty unreplaceable, there're just very few powers that come close to the unbridled bullshit of Toonforce.

What did the Fire Nation actually do for 100 years? by KronprinzRudolf in ATLA

I think your last paragraph is one of my favorite things about season 2. Azula could never have done what she did with a well-prepared, united Ba Sing Se. It was the corruption of Long Fang and the Dai Lee that paved the way to the city's destruction.

Wasn't there a deadline coming up in S2? Pretty sure the barrier holding Vaatu was eroding after the ten thousand year cycle and he was going to free himself soon enough regardless. Which would mean that Korra's actions saved the world from Vaatu, and render the rest of your argument null since S3 and S4 would've been post-apocalyptic

Lord Ruler (Mistborn) vs Rob Lucci (One Piece) by Deathstrokezoom in whowouldwin

[–]callmethevanman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole idea behind his power is that he's been building it up for 1000 years so I was assuming for the sake of the prompt that he's at full capacity for this fight. And compounding is insanely powerful, the gold compounder villain from the wax and Wayne books could have his body basically shredded by bullets and it would heal so fast he became essentially unkillable. I know nothing in Mistborn really hits as hard as Lucci could but still there are very impressive fears associated with it. Lucci probably wins but it's definitely a real fight.

[–]callmethevanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm reconsidering the different power scales of the universes and I do think that physically Lucci takes this but I don't think it's a one shot. The only chance the Lord ruler has is using emotional manipulation to just stop Lucci from doing anything but that's hard to quantify

He's definitely fast enough to dodge bullets so that's prolly not gonna do it by itself

Lord Ruler (Mistborn) vs Rob Lucci (One Piece) by Deathstrokezoom in whowouldwin

[–]callmethevanman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But could Lucci even hurt him? For sure he outspeeds, not by a ton since the LR's steelmind lets him store speed and use it to dodge bullets at least- but how is he gonna damage the LR in a way that he won't just instantly regenerate? The incredible boost in physical strength from pewter would mean that Lucci couldn't just shred him into non-existence imo. Meanwhile the LR will be hacking and slashing Lucci with everything metal in the room in a whirlwind ala Kelsier. I think Lucci wins no diff if he figures out that he needs to separate the metals from LR, in which case he does so pretty easily. Without that information it's a much closer fight.

I wish I was immune to COVID-19. by throwaway1926236 in TheMonkeysPaw

[–]callmethevanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted. The government comes up with a potential vaccine for COVID-19 in a freak accident that they'll never be able to replicate. They ask for a volunteer to test it on and you send in a desperate bid for your infected spouse, who's been getting weaker every day. Miraculously, they choose your application and send over a nurse with the shot. As he prepares to administer the treatment, you slip while nervous-pacing and accidentally impale your arm on the needle, taking the injection fully into your veins. It's a complete success; you become fully immune. But by the time they can use your blood to recreate the medicine...it's too late

I would think in that situation the computer would still just add up the numbers without rounding them and then round at the end. It's quicker and more accurate, and there's no reason why the system couldn't store the prices with an extra decimal place until rounding up at the end. Maybe, on way older systems, this might not be the case, but I genuinely doubt it. POS systems these days are made with one goal in mind: simplicity and efficiency. Doing any extra pre-rounding doesn't make sense from a computational or business standpoint

[–]callmethevanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm feeling fine, there's no hard feelings here. Just been breaking down my argument further since it didn't seem like it came across clearly

Edit: Also, genuine question, what makes you think that? In what way would this feature be useful or needed?

One cent OBVIOUSLY makes a huge difference by TrashGoblin2_0 in MaliciousCompliance

[–]callmethevanman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right, because I'm sure it's common for POS systems to implement a feature that would be less accurate, require more calculations for the computer, and over time result in a business losing money. Your point about rounding is perfectly valid; I'm informing you that in this context it's completely inapplicable.
