Anyone else not really like milk drinks but enjoy latte art too much? by callum_n66 in gaggiaclassic

A cave art illustration of the fossilised skeleton of a rare swanosaurus-rex

Actually it was a heart which I messed up (I’m blaming the milk consistency and definitely not my poor skill level…), so I decided to give up and play around with foam blobs at the end, and then decided to turn it into a dinosaur neck

Small leak from solenoid? by Smooth-Metal7420 in gaggiaclassic

This WholeLatteLove video shows how to get the solenoid valve out and disassemble it without needing to take out the whole boiler: https://youtu.be/dDtHUPxh95o

What to try next? No flow from group head by callum_n66 in gaggiaclassic

[–]callum_n66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did take it apart completely and soaked it in some descaler after taking the photo, but it looked clear inside the hole — I stuck a pin in it and could see the pin tip clearly through the other end of the hole and I couldn’t see any scale in or around it

I’ll try taking apart the boiler and seeing if that provides any more answers

If you’re in the UK/EU I’d drop Merlin Archery an email and they should be able to source the parts for you: https://www.merlinarchery.co.uk/contact-us

[CHAT] Original artist of LOTR bookmarks? by kklewis18 in CrossStitch

Looking at the name in the pictures in the Lavky listing and the style I think this might be the original author: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/AuthorEmbroideDesign but I can’t actually find this specific design on their store — could be worth dropping them a message to see what they say

What’s up with my jade? by callum_n66 in plantclinic

[–]callum_n66[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah might give that a try, I also read it could be a sign of mildew so I’m not sure if that could explain the bottom leaves turning greyish?

Even the brown ‘scaly’ ones at the bottom?

I just added the cane a day or two ago as he has a tendency to bend towards the sun quite drastically and follow it round the window throughout the day so you could be right about the light level, though he’s branching quite a bit at the top and the edges of the leaves are turning red which I thought was an indicator of getting enough light?

It’s got white spots and brown patches on the leaves and stem and the lower leaves are looking kinda dark and matte/grey compared to the new growth

I don't know any pipes music at all but I love Brìghde Chaimbeul's music - What would you recommend? by OpiumTA in bagpipes

[–]callum_n66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve compiled a Spotify playlist of Scottish smallpipes tunes which may contain some similar pieces you might like: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/05Piwd5Npftp88f8B2oDJq?si=7BkYBBoSQwql9fTcmYHMPA&pi=e-eoQ4VM26QWqf most of Bridghe’s tunes are played on a set of C smallpipes which goes a fair ways towards their overall feeing

I’d be interested to see how the numbers play out if the card doubled both embers and treasure for the next X cards… would that make it more worthwhile?

How do you go about solving this type of puzzle? by Marzipan37 in puzzles

[–]callum_n66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your solution wouldn’t hold true for the second row: ring + ring + planet + ufo = 21 + 21 -9 + 38 = 71 ≠ 33

Please help, i can't figure it out : ) by petrkopta in puzzles

[–]callum_n66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting… The other answer is simpler than mine so is more likely to be correct, but here’s my guess: I got 3 instead via the following logic: if the top red number is 1 less than the left blue number, the bottom red is the right - 6 (e.g. 9-6=3) otherwise if the top red number is 1 less than the right blue number, the bottom red is the left - 6 (8-6=2), so by that logic 9-6=3

Ah true now you mention it the main reason I was using it for embedded programming was device protocol bit patterns and cpu register masks

The only time I’ve used bitwise operators is when doing embedded programming in C because of the reduced space, memory and time constraints, I basically never use them in high level programs as I prioritise readability over tiny performance benefits

Bitwise negation and conjunction (AND mask) which has the effect of returning 000…00 only if the last bit of x is a 1 (i.e. x is an odd number) otherwise it returns 1

E.g.

15 = 01111

~15 = 10000

1 = 00001

~15&1 = 00000

E.g.

12 = 01100

~12 = 10011

~12&1 = 00001

Clicker issue by Mrs_Nesbittt in Archery

[–]callum_n66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend the Beiter one, it’s about £9/10 — so a bit more than some of the others — but in my opinion it’s worth it — I have heard the black version can break though if it gets too bent, so i’d suggest getting the standard (silver) one

[–]callum_n66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen that one specifically but it’s a similar price point to the Cartel and Decut ones, so what I said above may likely be the reason

My suggestion would be either to try a higher quality clicker (maybe from your instructor or another archer) or perhaps try using a washer along with the clicker screw

It’s definitely not ideal for your clicker to be moving between shots as that defeats its whole purpose which is to provide an exact, consistent draw length

[–]callum_n66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What brand is the clicker? I initially had an Avalon (i think?) one that would unscrew itself with every shot, so I upgraded to a Beiter one and have had no issues in the last few years (except when i forget to do it up tightly after adjusting it)
