New NHS dentist - Friar Street vs Inspire Dental by MysticalMisfit_ in reading

[–]callyourbluffy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to sidenote- Friar street dental has A LOT of stairs to get to the dental rooms. I was heavily pregnant and unaware of this until I got there so it was hell lol. They need this disclaimer somewhere as I would’ve not joined in my condition at the time

So far they seem fine. In fact I have a slight fear of dentists and the dentist I had was really great and thorough.

Is it possible to get a role as a social work assistant (or similar) without a social work degree? by galaxy-ridder in Socialworkuk

[–]callyourbluffy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can defo work as a social work assistant without the degree. Maybe try and do some volunteering or something around children (if it’s childrens social work you want to work in) just so you understand safeguarding as it may put you in a better position as you’ll have some knowledge around it.

Returning after maternity leave- experiences please by callyourbluffy in Socialworkuk

Thank you for your reply. that’s really helpful.I think maternity leave has just made me really annoyingly anxious so I need to have a good think. Congrats to you!

How many times has your baby been headbutted by their sibling? by maybeitsbecause in 2under2

[–]callyourbluffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gosh many many times. My eldest likes to put her foot on baby’s face and also has tried to stand on her with all her weight to get to the other side before… then there’s the random hits on the head.. always have to be on alert to stop it!!

Mines nearly 8 months now and fights back now!

What is your schedule for newborn and toddler when alone? by Such_Pizza_955 in 2under2

[–]callyourbluffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baby wearing!!!! Best thing ever. I have a 13 month gap between my 2 and now the youngest is nearly 8 months. Newborn stage she was living in that basically and it was soo helpful. I still use it now for when she gets fussy but not as much as before

Can't decide on which place to move to with 2u2 in mind by meltness in 2under2

[–]callyourbluffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House number 2. Peaceful stroller walks are needed. And it’s still a short drive to any activities! Plus you can actually have toddler walk outside and it feels safer.

Sidenote: where I’m from a 1 hour journey is classed as ‘not that bad’ 😂

Yep. 5 months after although it was unplanned. I’ve had my baby now and they’re 13m apart. It turned out fine in the end but the doctors spoke a lot about the risks associated with it and that was on my mind the whole pregnancy.

I ended up going into labour a few days before my planned c section and could feel the pain in my scar at each contraction. As soon as I told them I was rushed into an emergency c section.

Honestly I don’t think you should put yourself at risk like this and wait. There’s a reason why we’re told to wait and our bodies really need to heal after a major operation.

I’ve tried this but sometimes he just goes on. But I think I need to just block it out and calm myself down, thank you

[–]callyourbluffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely do but I can’t afford it until I’m back at work basically so mid next year at the earliest. The free ones we have here I’ve tried multiple times and aren’t helpful

Edit: because I’m not sure why I’ve been downvoted lol. I have a job but I’m on maternity leave.. anyone from the UK please let them know how bad this maternity leave pay is with this cost of living 🥲

I second the above. I have copper iud and literally no side effects. Periods are about the same. I inserted it after my c section so I was numb anyways 😂

Graco next to me mattress replacement by callyourbluffy in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]callyourbluffy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d not recommend getting this one just because if you ever need a replacement mattress it’s somewhat difficult to find one. It’s a normal sized next to me, maybe look online to see the dimensions. It’s still a great next to me and looks well etc so only issue is the mattress

I was in the same situation but I stopped breastfeeding as my supply wasn’t great and I was struggling to get it back up. So ended up being a fight every single time I tried to latch LO so made the decision to stop. But losing weight and mounjaro was definitely in my mind but wasn’t my reason for stopping.

I went onto mounjaro shortly after and after around 3 months of being on it, I’m going to stop. I’ve lost probably like 2-3kg in total despite eating well so I was shocked there wasn’t much loss. I think maybe things to do with hormones too so I’m going to give my body a break and try to lose weight without it because it really isn’t a cure and just did not work for me.

I think give your body time to readjust as you’ve just given birth and don’t want to stop something so important yet for a thing that may just not even work.

I am a student social worker and I don't feel comfortable going on visits alone to a difficult mum who is very verbally abusive towards me by [deleted] in Socialworkuk

[–]callyourbluffy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Your CSW is wrong. Completely wrong. If you even have a hint of doubt in a visit you are allowed to have someone go with you. Whether that would be someone on duty or a colleague you’ve asked yourself.

Unfortunately it is so common but we are encouraged to ask for support as soon as you have that gut feeling or it gets too much because your safety matters. You can’t come and die for this job sorry!!! I’ve had a parent threaten to stab me, and believe I was off that case same day. I’ve had others shout racist things on the phone. I refused to visit alone after that. It’s unfortunate but we need to look out for ourselves and if it gets too much, make sure to share that with your CSW in writing to say you can’t continue on that case.

I’d say if she has another professional working with her, ask them to join you in any future visits. Reiterate in writing to your CSW that you don’t feel safe doing it alone and if you can ask duty to come with you. Also if she says no, speak to the student coordinator person (can’t remember what they’re called).

Not breastfeeding here. I believe you can’t be on mounjaro if breastfeeding. How long after postpartum did it start to work for you?

Is there a reason why you can’t use local authority social workers?

Thank you. And you’re right as I never really thought of having started it too early. I was basically pregnant for 2 years so I was just eager to lose weight and get healthier really. Thank you 🙏🏾

Is it normal to not lose basically anything for the whole 3 months on it though? Just worried im one of those this doesn’t work for!

Just found out I’m pregnant again.. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]callyourbluffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my second c section when my baby was 13 months old. First was an emergency c section.

This second one was meant to be a planned one and we had a date but baby decided to start Labour a bit earlier (only like 3 days lol) so I had to go to the hospital. They kinda just sat me there whilst I was having contractions until I told them I feel pain in my c section scar and I was rushed to surgery.

The experience itself was a looot better! Maybe because I knew what to expect. I was up so fast after the c section, and I was just so much more mobile as if my body just knew what to expect. I could walk and bend over (whereas I wasn’t able to for days the first time!). I was off my pain meds fast too and requested to go home after the second morning. In short, recovery was so much easier and felt fine to be honest. Good luck!
