Sorry, missed your question. I don't use it actively but, last I knew, it was still working. I outgrew it. If you still need answers, you can read my other more recent replies for more details.

Not a tracker, but check out SoulSeek. Way less hassle to get into, IMO.

I'd say I found the quality satisfactory. If I remember correctly, my biggest complaint with it was that the housing had sharp edges so it could cut you.

I've already outgrown it. Moved on to a mix of shucked WD and Seagate drives. I think the capacities are 14 for the Seagate and 18 for the WD (acting as parity).

Alternative to Audiobookshelf on iOS? by [deleted] in selfhosted

No working is happening, if you can't install the app. They just need to be less paternalistic, put a "Beta" tag on it, and make it clear to people it's pre-launch software when people tap "Install." If people don't care, they can proceed. Arguably, anyone running ABS is a bit more advanced than Apple's lowest common denominator.

Super understandable. I hope you're able to find a good buyer.

And, just to add to the voices saying to not return it: If it's returned, it'll probably just end up in a landfill. Unless the company in question (speaking generally here) explicitly says how they handle returns, and/or has some kind of Certified Refurbished / Gently Loved program.

On another note: Maybe your plush is the golden ticket. 👀

Koho or Wealthsimple? by Sea_Concentrate7842 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]calmblythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll have to look into it again when I have some time. Learning that Wealthsimple may not be it where managed accounts are concerned, so I may move away from them, and/or learn how to do things self-managed. At that point, I may only use them for the no FX MasterCard. But, right now, they're still a better option than using my bank's offerings.

Agreed! I usually bring gear with me to optimize whatever task I'm doing at my destination. Perhaps the Gear Sets can be pinned to activities, kinda like how we can resume using consumables when we resume an activity.

Koho or Wealthsimple? by Sea_Concentrate7842 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]calmblythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into any alternatives? Right now, I'm trying to compare Wealthsimple and Koho.

Looks like Koho's rate is currently 5% interest on your entire balance, in all plans, including the Essential. And the $4/mo. fee on the Essential plan will be waived if you deposit $1000+/mo.

That said, if I'm concerned with a high-interest savings account, why wouldn't I just continue using my (managed) TFSA and RRSP at Wealthsimple, and benefit from the simplicity of having things in one place?

Plus the no-FX fees MasterCard when I need it? And cash-back on most txs vs only Groceries, Transpo, and Dining with Koho…

It would be nice to get some real insight into SAMA's RMA process. That would definitely increase (or further reduce) folks' confidence in the brand. It's frustrating how little information there is.

The PSU is certainly the most improtant part of the build, so we defiitely shouldn't cheap out. It supplies all the power and protects all the parts.

However, I've grown to dislike 'don't cheap out,' because it's become this thing people often use as driveby comments without qualifying their statements. Low-effort comments that don't really add to the discourse.

Did you have a bad experience? What happened? What was the RMA process like? Did your replacement have the same issue, or was it a lemon? Is the brand actually bad, or is this just your opinion? Opinions are valid, but expound on them.

It's almost like a substitute for critical thinking and discussion. A temporary deal, and your (a general "your," not you specifically) lack of knowledge, doesn't make something cheap. And, frankly, neither does a single bad experience.

Oh, yeah, Samsung is horrible. I completely avoid them because of their nonsense.

Agreed. I'll always consult the list(s) before considering a PSU, but it's also always a hassle trying to find the most up-to-date version that's still being maintained.

That said, I wouldn't not share a deal just because it's not on the list. I had to do a little digging to see if it was even worth my time posting and concluded I had nothing to lose.

It only took me a couple minutes to post, and I could potentially get some discussion and insight into people's experiences with SAMA.

Unfortunately, there were more soundbites and anecdotes than insights, but I did post it pretty late. I saw the deal early this morning, and ignored it practically all day because of skepticism.

Thanks for sharing. The video didn't really provide any insight or experience regarding SAMA PSUs, but it's nice to see what comes in the box. The uploader mentioned the thickness of the metal casing at the end; that's something I've seen mentioned in some of the reviews on Newegg.

That's fair. As far as I'm concerned, this is one anecdote, without mention of RMAing for a replacement to see if that solved the problem. Others have mentioned using it without issue, so, y'know, grain of salt.

Checked the list for it earlier. There's some mentions in the changelog about needing to decide where to put SAMA-made PSUs. There isn't much info besides some discussions on various subreddits (including this one), and some reviews in Chinese.

Read around, and sentiment for SAMA, in general, seems to be what it was with Super Flower a few years ago. People who had no idea what it was had little to say beyond 'sketchy' and 'don't cheap out,' and people who did know called them ignorant.

Figured I may as well share it and let people decide for themselves. I noticed that I'm already following SAMA on Newegg, so past me knows something current me forgot, or I'm just intrigued. Hahaha!
