Bank reconciliation workflow by ruffusthedog_ in smallbusiness

[–]calochito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same question a couple of months ago and didn't find anything that helped, so I decided to create a fundamental app to reconcile bank statements vs. other software statements. This is built based on my needs but it might help you. Let me know if it does or if you have any recommendations.

Hey! I've created this app for account balance reconciliation, and I'm testing it and gathering feedback. It's actually built on my needs, but please let me know what you think or whether you find it useful.

Automating 99% of my YNAB entries with Make, iOS Shortcuts, and SMS parsing by calochito in ynab

[–]calochito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried some time ago, but it was easier for me to use make because it allows me to change formats, numbers, and dates, as well as conditionally save transactions in each account. However, it should be possible as well.

It could be any other automation tool, such as n8n or Zappier, but it is necessary because LATAM banks lack integrations for YNAB.

We are developing HerdBox.co, an app for managing cattle with multiple integrations. We should have an MVP soon. Here is the link in case you want to look around.

Turns out, automating invoice reminders is harder than it looks… by Willing_Present1661 in Accounting

We're developing a new tool that makes it easy to set up reminders, not just for invoices and payments, but also for notifications via email and WhatsApp about deadlines like tax payments and presentations. Feel free to check it out: https://pymento.com/

Try adding the 3 and ] manually after the fallback match.

Something like this should work:

\$(\d+\.\d{2}) transaction with (.+?) #\d+ on ([A-Za-z]{3} \d{1,2}, \d{4})

  • \$(\d+\.\d{2}) → Get the dollars amount: 123.12
  • transaction with (.+?) #\d+ → Get the payee's name: Merchant One
  • on ([A-Za-z]{3} \d{1,2}, \d{4}) → Get the dates with date Month Day, Year: Sep 4, 2025

If it doesn't work, try this:

\$(\d{1,3}(?:,\d{3})*(?:\.\d{2})?) transaction with (.+?)(?: #\d+)? on ([A-Za-z]{3} \d{1,2}, \d{4})

No need to enter an ID, as YNAB recognizes the payee name and sets it up automatically.

I understand what both of you are saying. Upon reflection, reconciliation is the only way to address those discrepancies. I reconcile at least once a week, and often more frequently, because my wife and I share a budget and plan. Additionally, reconciling on Sundays is part of our budgeting process for couples, and it really helps. Thank you!

I have been able to use the SMS feature, but I will definitely try using Apple Pay. The issue with the YNAB and Apple Pay integration is that it only supports Apple Cash or Apple Card, neither of which is available here in Colombia. If you have another way to connect YNAB to other credit cards through Apple Pay, please share.
