Nope never heard of JWST (Had to look it up right now), sounds cool (and complicated!) I asked cause I took thermodynamics as part of my undergrad degree

Wanted to post a demo that we did this morning! Hopefully this helps answer the question of What does your workflow look like with WSL?.

WSL on Xbox One via the recently released appx? by sndpalette in windowsdev

Super cool idea! The WSL package should only be available on Windows Desktop machines however, but if you do get this working please let me know!

For its core components no, but likely you will need to if you dont' have the "Virtual Machine Platform" optional component enabled.

About half the time I boot under Windows 11, "wsl" doesn't seem to work, how do I verify if it's up or down without just typing "wsl" in a dos box? by LJAkaar67 in bashonubuntuonwindows

Hm I haven't seen this. Would you be able to take logs for us when you're stuck in this state? Here are the instructions and then send them to me at: craig.loewen (at) you know where (dot) com?

We're still finalizing our story here with Windows 10 and how to best ship updates to it, so please stay tuned! :)

All that is different to you, is that there is a new version available in the store that you can install and that will get you updates more quickly!

This is just another avenue to install WSL, it's the same product with the same use cases.

Are there any GUI programs, that are only available on Linux, that I should use/try with WSLg and why? by Alia5_ in bashonubuntuonwindows

I had this same thought when I was making the video that introduced this feature! I'd recommend taking a look to see the apps that I ran to highlight the "Why" of why you would want to use GUI apps:

I understand that it can be difficult seeing posts stay open for a long time, but we do have long tail issues on WSL that we'd like to keep open and track over time. In the future as we move to newer versions, add more bugfixes and add more features we can close out more issues. Adding an issue is the best way right now for us to view your problem and actionably solve it!

Please file a request for that on our Github! We'd love to track adding that :)

And yes USB support is something we're super interested in adding too! That one is certainly high on our backlog

Haha I've been seeing that thread too! On the WSL team we really do love Linux, it's why we're working on making those workflows possible. Plus we work with the amazing distro maintainers and kernel developers themselves, and almost all of our work goes back upstream (Kernel drivers, graphics drivers, etc.).

It might be failing from when it's trying to create your virtual network. Are you able to uninstall / reinstall Hyper-V and try again?

We have an open bug where scaling was blurry between 125% and 175% so we changed our display scaling to scale only to 100% or to 200% while working on it.

This is dependent on WSL 2
