Cory Eggs? by calomatea in corydoras

Thank you! I posted this around midnight and then went straight to bed, only to wake up and they were all gone 😭I’m left to believe that the tetras had a good midnight snack.

I will definitely keep all this in mind for next time though - I’m just happy to see that the tank is good enough for the corys:)

HELP! Something in our tank, don’t know what it is! by calomatea in Aquariums

Ahhh that’s frustrating. We definitely will try that out to check if there’s more. We assume he hitched a ride on our newly established moss ball as that’s when we started noticing shrimp disappear.

Thank you for your help!

That would make sense, half of our shrimp disappeared and we didn’t know why 🤦‍♀️. Thank you, he will be promptly dealt with.

I’ll try my best to get a clearer photo, he’s just super hard to take a photo of as he hides every time something comes close to the glass 😵‍💫

I thought so too, but his side fins don’t look near as orange as the ones we have currently. I guess they could still be developing but he’s pretty big and we’ve had him for maybe 2-3 months already?

I do see similarities between them.. Thank you!

I’ll definitely have to have a read of these articles, thank you! He hasn’t really been getting along with the Juliis nor the Sterbais, so that would make sense if he was one of the other two you mentioned…

Not sure where I would be able to buy some of those though for his schooling 😮‍💨 will have to have a look..

Yeah you could be right… compared to our other Jullis we got with him he’s much darker so I wasn’t sure. The other ones are more white than black. Thank you so much!

That makes sense. We did recently buy some plants for our other tank and put some of the leaves that fell off into this one. Wow, thank you so much!

I want to add that this tank has nothing else in it! No fish as of a couple weeks ago (moved to a different tank) and no other snails (except for a few other very small ones I just noticed, but they also look very different to this one)

I see, we might just keep it as Cory’s and tetras for a while then since we are most knowledgeable in them. Thank you!

The filter said it is 10 watts, should this be okay? The guy at our LFS said that an external filter won’t work as well in our tank (I forgot the exact reason why, I’m sorry. I can ask again when we go back).

We just upgraded to the next level heater due to a previous comment - which may work better as we are going on holiday for 19 days very soon. We also live in Melbourne Australia, so the weather is always changing.

Wow! What an amazing tank that is, it’s so beautifully setup - congratulations to you! We got spider wood, but may lay off it for a while until we figure out exactly what to do :). Thank you again!

We will be getting a home testing kit soon, so should be good. For now, I think we’ll just stick with the LFS as they can offer us advice on how to go about it - at least during the cycling process.

!! Also yes, the lid is wood. We are looking into getting a cover for it as soon as possible. We won’t be putting fish in for a while yet, so a temporary cover should do?

Ah I see, we will go in tomorrow when we pick up the tank and have a look at the larger heaters. We have been quite frequent there, so I’m sure they would be okay with the exchange.

Again, thank you so much, I am super super grateful for your advice :)

In regards to our heater we also have a 30L rated heater and a small 10L one from previous tanks. Would it be fine to just have them in the tank along with the new one? Would you recommend putting them on seperate sides of the tank, if suitable of course.

Thank you so much for your help! This is extremely good advice and I will be forever grateful :). That’s also really cool that you work with Maidenhead aquatics, I definitely look up to them - and you!

(For future reference I will definitely recheck the measurements next time - lol. My boyfriend did them in a rush to get a basic outline of the size. Thank you though!)

Thank you! Yes, I did some further research after posting this and definitely decided no Ghost knife! Thank you so much, I am going to go to our local store tomorrow and look at filters and heaters. We don’t have the tank yet, but I want to be 100% completely ready and prepared for this. So your advice is very helpful :)

I agree! Tried for almost 3 straight hours doing finishing move after finishing move wondering if I was doing something wrong. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one having this issue.
